The Opportunity
We're seeking a Foster and Volunteer Coordinator to join our Willawong Rehoming Centre on a full-time basis, supporting the volunteers and foster carers who help our animals on the way to adoption.
Key Responsibilities
- Place animals into suitable foster homes, including neonates, animals needing medical treatment, and animals needing behaviour rehabilitation.
- Build and support a network of carers confident with neonatal care, including bottle feeding, weaning, and monitoring weight gain, with volumes peaking through kitten season.
- Onboard new foster carers, maintain accurate records, and manage veterinary rechecks and foster returns.
- Educate and support carers on the day-to-day care of their foster animal.
- Onboard, train, and support current volunteers in their roles.
- Manage rosters so that every area of the Rehoming Centre, from animal care to drivers, is resourced.
- Communicate regularly with carers and volunteers about animals in care, program updates,
and the difference their time makes.
- Identify and put forward ideas to improve both programs.
Essential Skills And Attributes
- Experience in a volunteer or people coordinator role.
- Demonstrated administration experience with a high level of organisational skills.
- Knowledge of animal health and behaviour, including the care requirements of neonatal animals.
- Animal shelter or foster program experience.
- Knowledge of volunteer legislation and WHS.
- Strong computer literacy across a range of programs including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent customer service.
- Ability to manage your own time effectively, complete tasks thoroughly, and meet deadlines.
- A positive, flexible, and versatile approach to work.
- Valid Blue Card and willingness to complete a police clearance check.
Desirable
- Veterinary nursing experience, or a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
- Certificate III in Animal Care Services or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience caring for neonates, including bottle feeding and weaning.
- Relevant certificate or diploma in training or volunteer management.
