The Role
National Support Division (NSD) is seeking an enthusiastic and capable EL 1 Business Manager to lead the delivery of key business functions and support the Division's strategic objectives.
In this role, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for governance and reporting, security and information management, workforce management, financial reporting, commercial support, and business management. You will provide strategic business advice to senior leaders, oversee organisational business activities, and ensure compliance with Defence policy, legislative and regulatory requirements.
You will drive business performance through effective planning, risk management and continuous improvement, while monitoring progress against priorities and delivering outcomes in a dynamic environment.
Working across a broad stakeholder network, you will build productive partnerships, influence decision-making and foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and excellence.
About our Team
National Support Division works collaboratively across Defence and with partners from government, industry, and the broader community to strengthen Australia's resilience and national preparedness. The Division plays a key role in developing and sustaining the partnerships, coordination mechanisms, and workforce capabilities that enable Defence to leverage whole-of-government and whole-of-nation capabilities.
NSD comprises an integrated APS and ADF workforce that operates in a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing environment.
As a Business Manager, you will join a supportive team responsible for enabling effective governance, workforce management, and business operations across the Division.

- Oversee workforce planning, including the management and support of APS, ADF and Reserve personnel.

- Champion continuous improvement, innovation and organisational capability while modelling Defence values and behaviours.
Security Clearance:
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.
