Ward Clerk – Trauma The Royal Melbourne Hospital

Part time ongoing | 64 hours per fortnight

About the role

Join our 7 South East Ward and play a key role in supporting the delivery of Trauma services. As a Ward Clerk, you’ll be at the centre of ward operations, providing high-quality administrative support and helping patients, families and staff navigate a busy hospital workplace.

You’ll manage patient records, coordinate information, respond to enquiries and support effective communication across the multidisciplinary team. Your organisation, attention to detail and ability to stay on top of competing priorities will help keep the ward running smoothly and support productive patient flow.

Working closely with nursing and medical teams, you’ll be a valued member of a collaborative team where your contribution makes a real difference to the patient and staff experience.

Your new role

Provide clerical and administrative support to the Trauma Ward.

Maintain accurate patient records and manage confidential information as well as scheduling appointments.





Ensure efficient workflow in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Coordinate communication between multidisciplinary teams, patients, and visitors.

Greet and assist patients, families, and staff as the first point of contact.

Use hospital systems to process admissions, transfers, and discharges.

Support the ward team with general administrative duties as require

About You

You are an experienced administration professional who brings:

Solid customer service, communication, and skilled phone skills

Clerical, administrative, and IT proficiency with medical terminology knowledge

Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced workplace and work well in teams

Motivated, reliable, and committed to professional development with TAFE accreditation
