What you'll be doing The Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2 – Wound & Stomal Therapist provides advanced, evidence-based clinical assessment and specialist nursing care for patients requiring wound and stomal management.
The role acts as a clinical resource for staff, supports multidisciplinary care planning, delivers education, and participates in quality improvement activities within the specialty ward/service.
About You
You are a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse with current registration through the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and relevant postgraduate qualifications, supported by extensive clinical experience within your specialty area. You bring advanced clinical knowledge and expertise in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients with complex wound and stomal care needs. Your practice is underpinned by person-centred care principles, cultural safety, evidence-based practice, and a strong commitment to continuous quality improvement.
You demonstrate the ability to provide expert clinical leadership through the supervision, mentoring, and education of nursing and multidisciplinary staff, supporting the development of clinical capability and excellence in patient care. Your experience includes designing, delivering, and evaluating education programs for patients, carers, and healthcare professionals, ensuring the provision of high-quality, informed, and safe care across a variety of settings.
You possess highly developed written, verbal,
and interpersonal communication skills, enabling you to build effective relationships with patients, families, colleagues, and stakeholders. Your strengths in conflict resolution, care coordination, prioritisation, and time management allow you to effectively manage complex clinical demands while maintaining a high standard of professional practice. You work collaboratively and effectively within multidisciplinary teams, contributing to positive patient outcomes and service delivery improvements.
Your thorough understanding of current NSW Health policies, clinical governance frameworks, and nursing practice guidelines ensures compliance with professional and legislative requirements while promoting patient safety and quality care. You are committed to ongoing professional development, service evaluation, audit activities, research participation, and innovation, consistently contributing to the advancement of clinical practice and improved healthcare outcomes.
