Q Eats is a locally owned café and restaurant located in the heart of Alice Springs at 113 Todd Street. The venue offers a unique dining experience featuring Western-style breakfasts, fusion lunch options and fusion Thai cuisine for dinner. Open seven days a week, Q Eats is committed to providing high- quality food, exceptional customer service and a welcoming environment for both locals and visitors to Central Australia.

We are looking for a motivated and reliable Cook to join our kitchen team. If you’re passionate about food, take pride in your work, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we’d love to hear from you.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Food Preparation & Quality Control

- Prepare mise en place and cook food items for different service periods using a variety of preparation and cooking methods.
- Operate and clean different types of kitchen equipment safely, following the manufacturer's specifications.
- Effectively manage time and workflow to maximise efficiency and ensure food preparation is completed on time.
- Assist with receiving and properly storing food supplies and ingredients.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the chef or manager.
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
- Follow all health and safety regulations in the kitchen.
- Record fridge and freezer temperatures and report issues when required.
- Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures
- Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area.

2. Service Operation

- Set up workstations equipped with all necessary ingredients and cooking implements.




- Cook and present food items in accordance with orders and to meet customers’ expectation of quality and presentation.
- Assist other chefs in delivering food items promptly to customers.
- Review customer special requests and dietary requirements and interpret required changes to the food items.
- Clean and sanitise workstations, equipment, and kitchen floors after service; assist the kitchen staff with dishwashing as required.

SELECTION CRITERIA

1. Experience

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a fast-paced kitchen/restaurant (Required)
- Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or previous experience in fast-paced kitchen operation

2. Skills

- Having appropriate culinary skills, including cutting skills, food presentation, and understanding of different cooking techniques.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently within a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Attention to detail regarding food presentation and preparation, as well as general cleanliness of the kitchen.
- A consistent positive attitude and flexibility to adapt to different operational demands.
- Ability to work productively and efficiently both independently and within the team.




- Having an appropriate level of physical health and fitness to stand and remain active during operation hours.
- Comprehensive understanding of food safety and work health and safety regulations, including FIFO, Dietary requirements, and work health and safety.

3. Working Rights and Location

- Must have full-time, unrestricted working rights in Australia.
- For applicants on a visa, you must have at least 12 months remaining on your current visa and have full time work rights in Australia.
- Live and reside in Alice Springs or are willing to relocate.
