The Role
Defence is seeking a highly motivated APS 6 Data Management Officer to play a key role in advancing Defence's journey towards becoming a more data-informed organisation. Working within a small, high-performing Data Team based in Laverton, Victoria, you will contribute to the delivery of data and analytics outcomes that support Defence logistics capability and business transformation initiatives.
In this role, you will be responsible for assessing, evaluating, and improving data quality, data governance, data security, and business intelligence outcomes. You will contribute to the planning, implementation, coordination, and management of data-related initiatives, including business requirements analysis, data migration activities.
Working within an integrated workforce, you will support current and future logistics systems by delivering high-quality analytics, reporting, and data insights that inform decision-making and support continuous improvement across the Defence logistics network. Your work will help establish and maintain logistics data standards while enhancing organisational efficiency, capability, and operational outcomes.
About our Team The Directorate of Logistics Systems Sustainment Transition (DLST) is located in Melbourne and Canberra Offices, and is one of three directorates within Logistics Systems Branch. The Directorate consists of a blended APS, ADF and contractor workforce, many with deep subject matter expertise and specialist skills.
It is agile to meet the changing business demands of the organisation. This position is in the Data Management Team supporting current and future Logistics Systems to the Defence Logistics Network and Source to Distribute Value Chain.

You will be comfortable providing technical, professional, and strategic advice, while contributing to project delivery, business improvement initiatives, and organisational planning activities. Have a high level of computer literacy, knowledge of logistics systems and be able assess, evaluate and drive future data initiatives and data projects.

Security Clearance:
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at Negative Vetting Level 1.
