North Melbourne Kangaroos is a modern AFL football club based in the beating heart of urban, inner-city North Melbourne. Description
WHAT'S INVOLVED?
The successful applicants will complete a placement, alongside a multi-disciplinary team of professionals based predominantly at the club’s headquarters in North Melbourne.
North will provide an inclusive environment aimed at accelerating learning and enhancing practical skills required for the industry.
Key responsibilities and duties throughout placement include, but are not limited to:
- Assistance in the preparation and delivery of individual performance nutrition
- Resource development
- Assistance with hydration and sweat testing
- Food provision
- Literature search to inform best practice
- Work collaboratively with AFL and AFLW staff (coaching, fitness and medical) on athlete management during the AFL and AFLW preseason and season
Placement opportunities exist across our AFL, AFLW & VFL teams and with the potential for match day involvement if circumstances allow.
Placements commence early November 2026 until hours have been completed for placement.
This placement involves approximately 5-10 hours per week, with a minimum 1 day of training sessions during the week with the Club Dietitian.
Skills And Experiences
ELIGIBILITY
Students must be completing the placement unit at Deakin University in 2027 and studying Nutrition/Nutrition Science. The successful candidate is required to hold a current and valid Victorian Working with Children’s Check.
North is looking for reliable individuals with a willingness to learn, who possess the ability to thrive in a team workplace, as well as take initiative and work independently when required. The successful applicants will be effective communicators who demonstrate a high level of professionalism and an exceptional work ethic.

- Introduce yourself and tell us why you are interested in sports nutrition.

- Why are you interested in completing a nutrition/dietetics placement with North Melbourne Football Club?
- What would you bring to the role and how could you impact the program?
