As a key leader within the People, Governance and Integrity Branch, you will lead a diverse portfolio that may include human resources, governance, risk management, audit and assurance, integrity, and related functions. Working in a complex and dynamic environment, you will drive initiatives that strengthen organisational capability, support effective decision-making, and position NEMA for future success.

You will partner closely with executives and managers across NEMA, providing trusted advice on complex and sensitive issues while delivering practical, innovative, and sustainable solutions. Whether leading strategic workforce initiatives, human resources services, governance frameworks, integrity programs, risk management activities, or assurance functions, you will play a pivotal role in supporting organisational priorities and fostering a high-performing culture.

Leading a talented and high-performing team, you will create an environment of collaboration, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement. You will identify emerging challenges and opportunities, influence outcomes at senior levels, and drive meaningful change that enhances both employee and organisational performance.

At times staff within NEMA may be required to work outside of standard business hours, particularly during the high-risk weather season.

Experience, skills and qualifications

As an Executive Level 2 leader, you will demonstrate the ability to provide strategic leadership, influence organisational outcomes and deliver results in a complex and dynamic environment.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Demonstrated expertise in one or more relevant fields, such as human resources, workforce strategy, governance, risk management, audit and assurance, integrity, organisational capability, or related disciplines
- Proven experience leading complex functions, programs or initiatives and delivering strategic and operational outcomes
- The ability to provide authoritative advice on complex and sensitive matters and influence decisions at senior levels
- Strong strategic thinking, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities and organisational change
- Experience leading, developing and motivating high-performing teams to achieve results
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship management skills, with the ability to build trust and influence outcomes
- The ability to identify emerging risks, challenges and opportunities, and develop practical, innovative and sustainable solutions
- Experience managing resources, budgets, risks and compliance obligations to achieve business objectives.

Desirable qualifications

Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or professional certifications in a related and relevant discipline.

- Be an Australian Citizen
- Fulfil the Agency's minimum requirements by satisfactorily answering all screening questions during the application process and successfully undergo a National Police Check
- Obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance
- Satisfy a probation period (if applicable)
- Undergo a health assessment (if applicable).
