Job Title: Disability Support Worker

About the Role
We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Disability Support Worker to provide person-centred support to NDIS participants, including individuals with mental health conditions. This role involves assisting clients with daily living tasks, meal preparation, and community access, helping them live independently and achieve their goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care and support in line with individual support plans
- Support participants living with mental health conditions, using trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approaches
- Plan, prepare, and cook nutritious meals with or for participants, accommodating dietary needs and preferences
- Provide safe transport to appointments, community activities, and social outings using own or company vehicle
- Assist with household tasks, budgeting, and daily routines
- Support participants to build independence, confidence, and community connections
- Monitor and report changes in participant wellbeing, escalating concerns appropriately
- Maintain accurate case notes and documentation in line with NDIS and organisational requirements
- Respond calmly and appropriately in situations involving psychosocial distress or behaviours of concern
- Work collaboratively with families, carers, and the broader support team
Essential Requirements
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Mental Health, or related field
- Demonstrated experience supporting people with mental health conditions
- Confident and competent in meal planning and cooking for individuals or groups
- Current, valid driver’s licence and willingness to transport participants
- Comprehensive or third-party property car insurance
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Children Check (if applicable)
- First Aid and CPR certification
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module completion
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and use sound judgement
Desirable
- Experience with mental health recovery frameworks
- Manual handling training
- Medication administration competency
- Female staff only
