Duty Manager – Gaming, TAB and Food & Beverage Operations

Railway Hotel Marian is seeking a hands-on Duty Manager – Gaming, TAB and Food & Beverage Operations to join our busy hotel on a full-time basis.

We are proud of the quality of our food, beverage and customer service, and are looking for an experienced hospitality professional to help lead our operational teams. This is a full-time role averaging 38 hours per week.

Reporting to the Venue Manager, the Duty Manager will manage designated shifts and operational areas across the hotel, including gaming, TAB, bar and food-and-beverage operations. The role is responsible for supporting the Venue Manager in implementing established venue systems, maintaining high service and compliance standards, and leading staff during allocated shifts.

You will bring practical operational knowledge, sound judgement and the ability to motivate staff to deliver a welcoming, professional and efficient customer experience.

About the role:

Key responsibilities include

- Managing allocated shifts and supervising day-to-day operations across gaming, TAB, bar and dining areas;
- Allocating staff across operational areas, providing clear shift direction and monitoring staff performance;
- Leading and supervising front-of-house and relevant back-of-house team members during shifts;
- Assisting with recruitment, induction, training and ongoing development of team members;
- Addressing routine staff performance and conduct matters, escalating more complex matters to the Venue Manager where required;




- Maintaining high standards of customer service and promptly responding to customer feedback, service issues and operational incidents;
- Ensuring compliance with liquor licensing, gaming, TAB, workplace health and safety, responsible service requirements and other relevant laws and regulations;
- Monitoring stock levels, stock movement, wastage and labour use during shifts, and assisting with stock-control and cost-control processes;
- Monitoring shift-level sales, labour and stock performance, and assisting the Venue Manager with budget and cost-management processes;
- Ensuring venue policies, procedures, systems and service standards are implemented consistently;
- Completing shift handovers, operational records, incident reports and other required documentation; and
- Working flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and public holidays, as required by the hospitality industry.

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- At least two years’ experience in a hospitality management, duty management or senior supervisory role;
- Demonstrated experience supervising staff and leading a team in a fast-paced hospitality environment;
- Practical operational knowledge of gaming, TAB and food-and-beverage service;




- Strong customer-service skills and the ability to resolve issues professionally and efficiently;
- The ability to allocate work, provide staff direction and maintain service standards during busy trading periods;
- Sound understanding of liquor, gaming and workplace health and safety compliance requirements;
- Experience monitoring labour, stock and operational performance;
- Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills; and
- A positive, reliable and hands-on approach.

Current RSA certification is required. Gaming and TAB licences, or the ability to obtain and maintain them, are highly desirable.
