Hume AI is looking for an Operations Coordinator to help our team stay organized, follow through on priorities, and build effective day-to-day operations. Contribute to our endeavor to ensure that AI is guided by human values, the most pivotal challenge (and opportunity) of the 21st century.
About Us
Hume AI is a Series B startup dedicated to building artificial intelligence that is directly optimized for human well-being. As the first company to release speech language models, we're focused on expanding our research to encompass audio understanding models and evaluation platforms for enterprises.
Our goal is to enable a future in which technology draws on an understanding of human emotional expression to better serve human goals. As part of our mission, we also conduct groundbreaking scientific research, publish in leading scientific journals like Nature, and support a non-profit, The Hume Initiative, that has released the first concrete ethical guidelines for empathic AI (www.thehumeinitiative.org). You can learn more about us on our website (https://hume.ai/) and read about us in WIRED, Forbes, and Venturebeat.
About the Role
As an Operations Coordinator, you will support the everyday work that helps Hume's team operate effectively. You will work closely with colleagues across the business to organize information, coordinate projects, and make sure important details and next steps are handled.
This is a generalist role with room to learn the business and take on increasing responsibility. Experience in operations, strategy and operations, or people operations can be relevant, and recent graduates with strong internships are encouraged to apply.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate operational projects and requests, keeping owners,
deadlines, and next steps clear.
- Maintain accurate records, trackers, and shared documentation so information is easy to find and use.
- Support day-to-day coordination across the team and follow up on outstanding tasks.
- Help organize meetings, materials, and logistics as needed to keep work moving.
- Support business and people operations processes, working with the relevant team members on execution.
- Identify recurring issues and suggest practical improvements to how the team works.
- Take on new operational responsibilities as you learn Hume's systems, priorities, and ways of working.
What You'll Bring
- Experience in operations, strategy and operations, people operations, coordination, or a related area; relevant internships count.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and a habit of following tasks through to completion.
- Clear written and verbal communication and comfort working with people across different functions.
- The ability to manage competing priorities, ask useful questions, and flag problems early.
- Comfort with spreadsheets, shared documents, and learning recent business tools.
- Good judgment when handling confidential information and sensitive operational details.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to help with work that changes as the team grows.
Bonus Points
- Experience in an operations role or internship at a startup.
- Experience improving a process, coordinating a project, or maintaining a useful tracking system.
- Exposure to HR or people operations, business operations, or strategy and operations.
- A track record of responsibility and teamwork through internships, campus leadership, or collegiate athletics.
