Project Overview:

The project is a greenfield mining, processing, materials handling and ship-loading development focused on sustaining production, minimising environmental impacts, strengthening long-term relationships with neighbouring communities and supporting local economic development.

Job Summary:

The Field Lead Cost Engineer will lead site-based cost control activities for the project, supervising the field cost team and providing accurate, timely reporting on project progress, cost performance, forecasts, commitments and contractor claims. The role works closely with construction, contracts, procurement, engineering and project leadership to support informed decision-making and ensure cost reporting is aligned with project execution requirements.

This role is offered on a 2:1 FIFO camp roster to Weipa (onboarding in Brisbane office, then transitioning to FIFO in Q2 2027).

Major Responsibilities:

- Lead the development and maintenance of cost control management plans, estimate plans, work breakdown structures, coding structures, control budgets and related cost processes and procedures.

- Establish and maintain routine site cost forecasting, analysis and control activities.





- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, project management, subcontractors and customer consultants to ensure estimating and cost control inputs are integrated, timely and aligned with project execution requirements.

- Provide guidance, mentoring and technical direction to cost engineers and project controls personnel, ensuring work is completed to required quality standards and schedule commitments.

- Prepare specific budgets in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures.

- Work with field supervision and contracts personnel to review and certify contractor progress claims for payment.

- Maintain and revise contract pricing schedules for works contracts.

- Review cost commitment and expenditure information for input into the cost control and reporting system, EcoSys.

- Support works contractors in establishing routine reporting aligned with project requirements.

- Monitor contractors’ reporting deliverables to ensure they meet the required format and standard.

- Produce cost status reports and advise management of forecast cost overruns, risks and emerging trends.

- Monitor cost and commitment performance for purchase orders and contract packages.

Education and Experience Requirements:

- Requires a bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying, engineering, project/construction management or a related field and 10 years of relevant experience, or 14 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a degree.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

- Strong knowledge of cost control processes, including control budget development, commitment tracking, accruals, earned value, forecast preparation, change management, trend analysis and variance explanation

- Knowledge of supervision, personnel administration, and training of technical and non-technical personnel.

- Commercial awareness and ability to support subcontractor bid evaluations, pricing schedule reviews, commercial clarifications,



client estimate reviews and estimate reconciliation discussions

- Knowledge of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up work processes, as performed by Tier One construction contractors (EPC/EPCM).

- Knowledge of engineering and construction management customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience.

- Experience supporting large-scale construction execution in field environments.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present project controls information clearly to management and client stakeholders.
