THE OPPORTUNITY The roles are working in the Financial Operations team ensuring that all accounts payable financial documents are processed in line with Australian Government policy, client agency's Accountable Authority Instructions (AAIs) and SDO's Service Level Outcomes.
This service covers the full range of accounts payable and accounts receivable activities such as vendor creation and maintenance, financial document processing, payment runs, enquires, reconciliations and reporting.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATES The successful candidate will possess the skills, knowledge and experience necessary to effectively work in the Financial Operations team and ensure the delivery of high-quality financial services in a shared service workplace.
The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:
- Experience in Accounts Payable operations, including accurate processing of invoices, payment runs, reconciliations, vendor management, and resolving payment issues.
- Experience working in a shared service environment.
- Knowledge of financial management principles, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
- The ability to prioritise competing workloads, manage deadlines, and maintain service delivery during periods of high demand.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels and with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, including identifying opportunities to enhance processes, efficiencies and customer service.
The successful candidates will possess:
- Sound knowledge of Accounts Payable policies, procedures and best practice.
- An understanding of financial governance frameworks, including compliance, financial delegations, and internal controls.
- Knowledge of the Australian Government financial management framework, including the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act).
- Experience using SAP, financial management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Highly regarded qualifications, knowledge and experience include:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Payable function within the Australian Public Service.
- Previous experience working in a Shared Service environment.
- Experience in working with systems of the RBA.
- Qualification in Accounting, Finance or equivalent experience.
- Experience using ServiceNow or equivalent systems.

ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing.
