About the role
Privately owned clinic is seeking an experienced Senior Sonographer to join our team. This is a full-time position that offers a fantastic opportunity to lead and mentor within our medical imaging department whilst delivering high-quality diagnostic ultrasound services. As a Senior Sonographer, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our clinical excellence and contributing to the strategic vision of our imaging services.
Key responsibilities
- Performing a comprehensive range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations across multiple specialties, including abdominal, obstetric, gynaecological, musculoskeletal, vascular and cardiac imaging
- Producing high-quality diagnostic images and reports that meet industry standards and contribute to accurate clinical diagnoses
- Mentoring, training and supervising junior sonographers and imaging staff, fostering professional development and maintaining high standards of practice
- Contributing to quality assurance programmes and implementing best practice protocols to ensure consistent excellence in imaging services
- Liaising effectively with radiologists, clinicians and other healthcare professionals to optimise patient care and imaging outcomes
- Maintaining detailed and accurate patient records and imaging documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Upholding strict infection control protocols and adhering to health and safety standards across the imaging department
- Staying current with advancing ultrasound technology and participating in continuing professional development activities
- Contributing to departmental efficiency and workflow optimisation whilst maintaining compassionate patient care
What we're looking for
- Registration or eligibility for registration with the Australian Sonographers Association (ASA)
- Minimum 5+ years of post-qualification experience as a qualified sonographer in diagnostic ultrasound
- Demonstrated expertise in performing a broad range of ultrasound examinations across multiple anatomical regions
- Proven ability to mentor, supervise and train junior imaging staff, with evidence of leadership experience in a clinical setting
- Solid communication skills with the capacity to explain complex imaging findings to patients, clinicians and healthcare team members
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities whilst maintaining attention to detail
- Proficiency in operating modern ultrasound equipment and electronic imaging systems
- Knowledge of current clinical guidelines, safety standards and best practice principles relevant to diagnostic ultrasound
- Commitment to professional development and staying abreast of technological advances in medical imaging
- Preferred: Advanced qualifications or specialisation in areas such as obstetric imaging, vascular ultrasound or musculoskeletal ultrasound
