Senior Accountant / Team Lead / Tax Accountant / (Registered Tax Agent)

About the role

Plan Tax Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant / Team Lead (Registered Tax Agent) to join our growing taxation practice based in Chadstone, Victoria. This is a full-time position that offers the chance to lead a dynamic team whilst maintaining your own client portfolio. You will play a pivotal role in driving the quality and efficiency of our tax services, whilst building and developing a high-performing team. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will be expected to lead by example, combining strategic oversight with technical expertise in taxation matters. The role is based at our Chadstone office, VIC 3148.

Key responsibilities

- Leading and mentoring a team of accountants and tax professionals, providing guidance on technical tax matters and supporting their professional development
- Overseeing the preparation and review of tax returns, financial statements and tax compliance work for a diverse portfolio of clients
- Managing complex tax planning strategies and providing strategic tax advice to clients across various industries
- Ensuring all taxation work adheres to Australian Taxation Office regulations, professional standards and firm procedures
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships, responding to client enquiries and providing tailored tax solutions
- Conducting technical research on taxation matters and keeping abreast of changes in tax legislation
- Contributing to the growth of the firm through business development,



client acquisition and retention initiatives
- Preparing reports and presentations for clients and stakeholders
- Managing workload allocation within your team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of services

What we're looking for

- Active registration as a Tax Agent with the Tax Practitioners Board or eligible for registration
- A minimum of 5-7 years' experience in taxation, accounting or a related field, with demonstrated experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity
- Strong technical knowledge of Australian taxation law and compliance requirements
- Proven experience in preparing tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts and partnerships
- Experience in tax planning and providing strategic tax advice to clients
- Excellent leadership and people management capabilities, with the ability to motivate and develop team members
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex tax matters to clients and team members
- Proficiency in relevant accounting software and tax preparation tools
- High level of attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Professional qualifications such as CA, CPA, CFA or similar are highly desirable
