At Best Practice Software, our vision is communities connected with care. We’re achieving this through our mission to build a culture people love, where:
- we value customers,
- we work together for success,
- we are accountable for our actions,
- we innovate for the future, and
- we celebrate diversity and inclusion.
If you share our vision and values, please consider this exciting career opportunity to join our growing team in Brisbane, Queensland.
Ready to take the next step from HR Advisor or Generalist to HR Business Partner?
Help us achieve our mission to build a culture people love.
You might not be an HR Business Partner (HRBP) yet and that’s okay. We are looking for an experienced and committed HR Advisor or HR Generalist who is ready for their next career step and wants the opportunity, support and mentoring to develop into a trusted and highly capable HRBP.
For us, this appointment isn’t simply about finding someone who can tick every box on a position description. We are looking for the right person, someone who is patient, understanding, and genuinely cares about people. Someone who listens before they respond, wants to understand our history, gets to know our people, builds trust through their actions and understands that great HR is about balancing the needs of our people with the needs of our business.
You will have a voice here. Your opinion will be sought, heard and valued.
A genuine opportunity to grow
This isn’t a role where you’ll be handed a portfolio and expected to figure everything out on your own. You will be supported and mentored by an experienced HR Business Partner and Organisational Development Specialist, while also having direct access to our Chief of People Experience and Chief Operating Officer.
You will learn from experienced people leaders while being given the space and trust to develop your own style, judgement and confidence as an HR professional. Most importantly, you’ll be hands-on with our leaders, coaching, guiding, challenging and supporting them to become better people leaders. Our aim is to help you become someone our leaders don’t just go to because you’re ‘HR’, but because you have earned their trust and respect.
Location and travel
This role is based in Brisbane; however, you will be required to travel to our Bundaberg Head Office approximately one week each month at our expense. We see that time in Bundaberg as important. Great HR partnerships aren’t built entirely through Teams meetings and emails, they are built by being present,
understanding the operation and developing genuine relationships with the people and leaders you support.
You’re unique, and we value that.
What you’ll be doing as a Human Resources Business Partner. We’ll call on your unique talents, skills, expertise, and experience to:
- You will work across the full employee lifecycle and gradually build your capability as a true business partner;
- You will also coach and support leaders through people matters, employee relations, performance, engagement and change. You will also contribute to recruitment and onboarding, workplace culture, learning and development, HR compliance and business-wide people initiatives;
- You’ll also help us continue embedding the values that guide how we work.
We believe our ideal applicant will demonstrate the following attributes:
- Has patience and empathy – you take the time to understand people and situations before jumping to conclusions.
- Builds trust – people feel comfortable coming to you because you’re approachable, considerate, and fair.
- Wants to coach, not control – you help leaders build their own capability rather than simply giving them the answer.
- Has courage and judgement – you are comfortable having respectful, sometimes difficult conversations when they’re needed.
- Is curious – you ask questions, challenge thinking appropriately and want to understand the business behind the people decisions.
- Is humble and eager to learn – you don’t need to have every answer, but you’re prepared to find it.
- Genuinely wants to make a difference – culture isn’t just an HR initiative to you or a bunch of words written on the wall, it’s created through the everyday experience of our people.
What’s in it for you?
- In return, we’re offering something we think is increasingly difficult to find in HR: a genuine development opportunity with access to experienced senior people who want to see you succeed.
- You will receive mentoring and support while being trusted with meaningful work.
- You’ll have exposure to senior leadership and the opportunity to influence decisions, contribute ideas and see the impact of your work.
- You will also be involved in broader initiatives across our Australian and New Zealand teams,
giving you exposure beyond the traditional HR Advisor remit and helping you develop the commercial and strategic capability required of a successful HR Business Partner.
The person we’re hoping to find
- We are less interested in finding someone who already knows everything and much more interested in finding someone with the right foundations, character and potential.
- Ideally, you’ll bring around 3 – 5 years’ HR experience, with a strong generalist or advisory foundation and exposure across areas such as employee relations, recruitment, performance, learning and development and HR compliance.
- You’ll have sound knowledge of Australian employment legislation with a keen interest to learn more and be a trusted source of information and counsel for our team.
Our team members enjoy exclusive access to our brilliant B-Perks Program, offering excellent rewards like birthday leave, an annual health and wellbeing bonus, and sponsored rewards to recognise outstanding contributions. You’ll also access our leadership development program and learning opportunities across our group of businesses and enjoy the freedom and flexibility to work as you work best. We offer purpose and impact, an inclusive culture, a connected workforce, transparent leadership, and growth and belonging.
Think you’re ready for the next step?
If you’re already an HR Business Partner, we’d still be happy to hear from you. But if you’re an HR Advisor or Generalist reading HRBP advertisements and thinking, ‘I know I’m capable of more – I just need someone to give me the opportunity,’ this role may be that opportunity. You don’t need to arrive as the finished product.
Bring us your HR foundations, curiosity, judgement, empathy and willingness to learn. We will invest in helping you take the next step, so If building a career while helping us build a culture people love sounds like something you’d like to be part of, we’d love to hear from you.
How can we get this ball rolling?
To start a conversation on your fit within our team, we recommend you provide us with:
- a capability statement/cover letter highlighting your experience and how you meet our requirements; and
- an updated copy of your resume.
Your new career starts here.
