Melbourne, VIC | Full time
Fortis Security is seeking an experienced Senior Security Technician to provide technical leadership and deliver complex electronic security projects across Melbourne and Victoria.
This is a hands‑on senior role for someone who excels in system programming, commissioning, integration and complex fault‑finding—and who can support other technicians in delivering work to the highest standard.
About Fortis Security
Founded in 2013, Fortis Security is a technology-driven leader in integrated electronic security and network solutions.
With offices across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Darwin, we design, install and maintain advanced security systems for top‑tier clients across the commercial, retail, government, logistics and critical infrastructure sectors.
Our reputation is built on technical excellence, reliability and strong client relationships. We’re now looking for a highly capable Senior Security Technician to strengthen our Victorian technical team.
The Role
As a Senior Security Technician, you’ll take a leading technical role across major CCTV, access control and integrated security projects.
You’ll remain hands‑on while taking responsibility for complex system programming, commissioning, fault resolution, quality assurance and technical handovers.
You’ll work closely with Project Managers, technicians, clients, subcontractors and suppliers while helping mentor less‑experienced team members and improve technical standards across the business.
The role will involve work across Melbourne and broader Victoria, with occasional interstate opportunities supporting major national projects.
What You’ll Do
Lead the installation, programming and commissioning of complex electronic security systems
Configure and integrate CCTV, access control, intercom, intrusion detection and related platforms
Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, network and integration faults
Review system designs, drawings, specifications and technical documentation
Support Project Managers with technical planning, equipment selection and delivery methodology
Conduct system testing, quality inspections and commissioning reviews
Ensure installations comply with project specifications, Australian Standards and Fortis Security’s quality requirements
Prepare accurate commissioning records, configuration documentation and client handover packages
Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and other trades
Provide technical guidance, mentoring and support to technicians and apprentices
Identify technical risks and resolve issues before they affect project delivery
Maintain high standards of safety, workmanship and customer service
What You’ll Bring
Extensive experience as a Security Technician within the electronic security industry
Advanced experience programming and commissioning CCTV and access control systems
Strong knowledge of integrated security systems, networking and server‑based platforms
Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical faults
The ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications and system designs
Experience leading technical works and supporting other technicians
Strong communication, organisation and client‑management skills
A current Victorian Private Security Individual Licence authorising Security Equipment Installer activities
A current Australian Driver’s Licence
Full and permanent Australian working rights
Experience with platforms such as Genetec, Gallagher, Integriti, Milestone or Geutebrück will be highly regarded.
Manufacturer certifications, networking experience and current cabling registration will also be highly regarded.
Why Join Fortis Security?
Take a genuine technical leadership role while remaining hands‑on
Work on advanced, large‑scale electronic security systems
Deliver projects for major commercial, government and critical infrastructure clients
Competitive salary package based on experience and capability
Ongoing manufacturer training and certification pathways
Supportive team culture backed by experienced technical professionals
Opportunity to influence technical standards and mentor developing technicians
Genuine career progression within a growing national business
