Bright Wealth Group is a multidisciplinary financial services firm providing accounting, taxation and financial planning services to individuals, families and businesses.

We are seeking an experienced Intermediate Accountant to join our Accounting division in our Maroubra office.

This is a hands-on business services and taxation role suited to an accountant who already has a strong grounding in Australian accounting and taxation and can prepare high-quality compliance work with appropriate guidance from our Senior Accountants.

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with our Senior Accountants, the Intermediate Accountant is responsible for preparing accurate and timely accounting and taxation compliance work across a portfolio of clients.

The position requires solid technical accounting capability, attention to detail and the ability to independently manage allocated work and deadlines while escalating technical or client matters when required.

Key responsibilities include

- Preparing financial statements, income tax returns and associated compliance work;
- Preparing compliance work through to trial balance;
- Preparing and maintaining accurate workpapers and supporting documentation;
- Applying Australian taxation requirements across income tax, GST, FBT and PAYG;
- Managing allocated client jobs from commencement through to review;
- Planning and prioritising workloads to meet internal and statutory deadlines;
- Monitoring job budgets and completing work within agreed timeframes;
- Maintaining accurate client and job information within the firm's systems;
- Liaising professionally with clients to obtain information and resolve queries;
- Working closely with Senior Accountants on technical matters, workflow and deliverables;
- Responding to review points and applying feedback to improve the quality and efficiency of future work;




- Maintaining current knowledge of relevant Australian accounting and taxation requirements; and
- Contributing to process improvements and broader team initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience To be considered for this position, applicants must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Minimum 3 years' relevant accounting experience;
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline;
- CA or CPA qualification, or currently working towards CA/CPA;
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of Australian taxation and accounting principles;
- Experience preparing accounting and taxation compliance work, including financial statements and income tax returns;
- Demonstrated ability to prepare accounting files and compliance work through to trial balance;
- Working knowledge of Australian taxation obligations, including income tax, GST, FBT and PAYG;
- Demonstrated ability to prepare clear, accurate and appropriately supported accounting workpapers;
- Experience managing multiple client jobs, competing deadlines and turnaround requirements;
- Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to produce accurate work with minimal rework;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to identify issues, undertake appropriate investigation and escalate technical matters when required;
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within an accounting team; and
- Proficiency using accounting and practice management software, including Xero and Xero Practice Manager (XPM), or equivalent professional accounting systems.

Highly Regarded The following experience will be highly regarded:




- Previous experience within an Australian public practice accounting firm;
- Experience working across a varied client base including individuals, companies, trusts and other business structures;
- Experience managing client compliance work within agreed budgets and turnaround times;
- Experience communicating directly with clients regarding accounting and taxation matters; and
- Progress toward, or completion of, CA/CPA professional studies.

Beyond technical capability, we are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work.

You will need to be organised, accountable and comfortable managing multiple deadlines. You should be able to apply your existing technical knowledge rather than simply follow a checklist, recognise when something does not look right, and know when a matter needs to be escalated.

Accuracy and attention to detail are essential. You will be expected to respond constructively to review feedback and demonstrate continuous improvement in the quality and efficiency of your work.

Salary: $70,000.00 to $85,000.00 superannuation
