Legal Assistant, Ongoing and Temporary opportunity (parental leave back fill until October 2027) available, based in Sydney CBD + hybrid working options

- Full time positions available
- Ongoing and Temporary opportunities available - the tempoary role is parental leave back fill until October 2027, with the possibility to extend or make ongoing if another opportunity arises
- Location: Sydney CBD
- Hybrid working opportunity – (2 to 3 days in the office)
- Clerk Grade 3/4, Salary $87,199 - $95,482, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

The Department of Customer Service is looking for an enthusiastic and team-orientated Legal Assistant to provide high quality clerical and administrative support to its Litigation team. The successful applicant will manage the delivery of a range of administrative duties within a busy Legal team, with a focus on administration financial invoicing and reporting, in order to support effective service delivery.

To be successful in this role it is essential that you are motivated and a solid effective communicator with great initiative who is able to plan and prioritise work and manage competing deadlines. The right applicant will be willing to hit the ground running, work with minimal supervision and be client focused. Prior experience working in a legal team in desirable.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Delivering a wide range of administrative duties to support the litigation team.
- Assisting with preparation and collation of briefing documents, drafting correspondence, and providing support to lawyers with court matters.
- Maintaining accurate records of legal matters, and handling confidential and sensitive material with discretion




- Ongoing file maintenance and closure of matters, including archiving
- Operating Legal practice management system
- Proficient in invoice processing and financial reporting
- Providing quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders, and maintaining effective working relationships

About you:

- Minimum of 2 years proven administration experience, preferably in the legal industry
- Demonstrated resilience and strong organisational skills to balance high volume workload and competing priorities
- Be a motivated self-starter with great initiative committed to achieving team goals
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- High level attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite and ability to learn other systems essential
