About the Role

Employment Type: Permanent Full Time
Locations: 1 x Logan | 1 x Gold Coast
Hours: 38 hours. Must be flexible, with some weekends and after-hours work required

Life Without Barriers is proud to deliver the Staying on Track Program , part of the Queensland Government’s Making Queensland Safe plan.

These are exciting new positions added to the Staying on Track team structure , providing an opportunity to join a growing service and play a key role in supporting young people as they transition from detention back into their families and communities.

Staying on Track supports young people aged 10-17 years who are leaving detention , helping them successfully transition back to their families, communities and everyday lives.

The program provides intensive, tailored support focused on reducing re-offending and building positive pathways through education, training, employment, cultural connections and community participation.

As a Youth Advocate , you'll build trusted relationships with young people and their families, helping them identify their strengths, work towards their goals and make positive changes.

Your day-to-day work will include:

- Providing mentoring, coaching and practical support to young people and their families.
- Building positive relationships and acting as a consistent, supportive role model.




- Developing and implementing Individual Support Plans in partnership with young people.
- Providing outreach support within the community and attending key appointments with young people.
- Advocating for young people and helping them access the services and supports they need.
- Supporting young people to make positive choices and develop strategies that reduce the risk of re-offending.
- Connecting young people with education, training, employment, cultural and community opportunities .
- Supporting young people to build independence, resilience and confidence.
- Working collaboratively with families, government agencies, community organisations and other key stakeholders.
- Maintaining accurate records and contributing to positive outcomes for young people.

Skills & Experience

We're looking for people who are passionate about supporting young people and who can build authentic, respectful relationships.

You will bring:

- Relevant qualifications and/or experience in Youth Justice , with a willingness to complete further training. Lived experience and cultural knowledge will be highly regarded.
- Experience supporting young people through coaching, mentoring, role modelling and goal-setting .
- Strong communication,



interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively with young people, families and a range of stakeholders.
- A flexible approach and willingness to travel to provide outreach support.
- A commitment to completing required induction and training, including Basic Advocacy Training (BAT) .
- A current Driver Licence .
- A current Provide First Aid Certificate .
- Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks, including a National Criminal History Record Check, Queensland Blue Card Working with Children Check and Licence Care Service Check.
