About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Machine Operator to join our team at our site in Seaford.

You will be responsible for operating front-end loaders and excavators whilst undertaking duties associated with the day-to-day operations of the waste transfer station. Your expertise will contribute to maintaining high standards of safety and productivity, supporting our commitment to delivering reliable utility services to the community and our customers.

Duties and responsibilities

- Control the placement of waste and recyclables being deposited by customers so to maximise resource recovery
- Operate onsite plant and equipment as required
- Direct traffic within the transfer station and provide general information to customers as required
- Maintain all buildings, grounds, roadways and landscaping in a clean and tidy condition at all times
- Operate and monitor machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety




- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on machines to prevent breakdowns
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment
- Record production data and report any issues or malfunctions to the supervisor
- Collaborate with team members to achieve production targets and improve processes
- Assist in training current operators on machinery, operational and safety procedures

Skills and Qualifications

- Current driver’s licence and reliable transport
- Licensed to operate plant equipment (Front End Loader and Excavator)
- Relevant VOC for plant equipment and proven experience
- Good mechanical aptitude and understanding of basic maintenance of machinery
- Ability to collaborate in a small but effective team environment
- Good communication skills
- Physically capable of carrying out tasks adjacent to the main duties as an operator – cleaning/hygiene/unblocking and manual handling tasks
- Basic digital literacy – ability to work with tablets and phones for capturing and updating data and information
- A strong commitment to safety
