Senior Food Safety Audit, Consultant & Trainer
Quality Associates is one of Australia's leading food safety consulting, training, and auditing companies. We work with food businesses nationwide across manufacturing, logistics, retail, and primary production, helping them navigate compliance, build robust food safety systems, and get their products to market with confidence.
We are also a Registered Training Organisation (RTO 41341), which means our consultants bring both deep industry expertise and a genuine commitment to building knowledge, whether that is with a client team or within our own.
We are a small, experienced team that takes the work seriously. You will be trusted to get on with the job and supported when you need it.
About the Role
We are looking for a senior food safety and regulatory professional to join our Melbourne team in a client-facing role at the heart of our practice. This could be someone coming from a consultancy background, or equally someone who has spent their career in industry and is ready to take that expertise client-side.
This is a hands‑on role where you will help food businesses navigate Australian food law, review product labels for compliance, and translate complex regulatory requirements into practical, workable advice. You will also lead HACCP development, internal audits, and food safety investigations.
As a qualified trainer, you will deliver our public, in‑house and nationally recognised training under our RTO, and you will help lift the technical capability of our developing consultants through coaching and mentoring.
If you know the Food Standards Code inside out, have a sharp eye for regulatory detail, and enjoy solving real problems for real businesses, we want to hear from you.
What You Will Be Doing
Leading system development engagements end to end,
scoping and delivering HACCP-based food safety programs for clients across manufacturing, importing, and food service
Reviewing product labels and packaging for compliance with Australian food labelling legislation
Providing regulatory analysis and practical advice to clients on food standards and compliance obligations
Keeping clients informed of regulatory changes and their implications for products and operations
Conducting internal audits and gap assessments for food business clients
Leading and supporting food safety and quality investigations
Advising clients on GFSI schemes including SQF, BRC/BRCGS, FSSC 22000, and others
Delivering our public, in‑house and nationally recognised training as a trainer under our RTO, including HACCP and food safety courses
Coaching and mentoring junior consultants and trainers
Producing explicit, professional reports and corrective action plans
Building and maintaining strong client relationships
What We Are Looking For
8 or more years of experience in food safety, regulatory affairs, or a related role
Deep knowledge of Australian food labelling legislation and the Food Standards Code
Experience reviewing product labels and providing regulatory compliance advice
Deep HACCP knowledge and have completed training on HACCP
Has developed and implemented HACCP previously
Demonstrated experience conducting internal audits
Familiarity with GFSI schemes and how they work in practice
Experience managing or supporting food safety investigations
Experience delivering training and mentoring or developing others
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A collaborative, practical approach to problem-solving
An efficient, self‑motivated worker
Qualifications
TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (required)
HACCP Training (required)
Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field (required)
How Success Is Measured
We keep performance measures simple and agree them with you before you start. In broad terms, they cover client relationships and outreach, client and student satisfaction, delivering engagements within quoted days, and the quality of the work you produce. We review these together at the six‑month mark to make sure they are working as intended.
Why Join Us
Varied, meaningful work - system development, label reviews, regulatory analysis, audits, investigations, and training delivery. No two weeks look the same.
Put your regulatory knowledge to work - this is a role where deep expertise in food labelling and the Food Standards Code is genuinely valued, not just a nice‑to‑have on a list of duties.
Work across a broad client base - manufacturers, importers, logistics providers, retailers, and primary producers. Your knowledge gets tested and sharpened across every sector of the food industry.
A senior role with real ownership - you will lead engagements, deliver training, and help shape the next generation of our team.
Strong reputation - a loyal client base, well-regarded in the industry, and genuine ambition for what comes next.
Melbourne‑based - a permanent role with flexibility in how the work gets done.
