An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced, dynamic and highly motivated Mental Health Clinician to join our Primary Health Team in full time, fixed term position to September 2027.

The Mental Health Clinician role forms part of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Local service delivering support across Mitchell and Murrindindi Shire in response to the mental health and wellbeing impacts of the 2026 Longwood bushfire.

Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals are a key element of Victoria’s reformed system, providing free, voluntary and easily accessible support with no referral required. Guided by a “how can we help?” and “no wrong door” approach, the model prioritises participant choice, control and timely access to the right support. The Mitchell and Murrindindi Mental Health and Wellbeing Local is delivered through a partnership between Wellways, APMHA Healthcare, Goulburn Valley Health, Alexandra District Health and Yea and District Memorial Hospital.

The service delivers an integrated support to people aged 26 and over, including those experiencing co-occurring mental health and alcohol and other drug challenges, as well as their families, carers and supporters. Alexandra and District Health are the employing organisation for this position, contributing to the delivery of locally responsive, place-based care in partnership with Wellways and other service providers.

The role contributes to a newly established, community-based team that provides a warm, welcoming first point of contact for people seeking support. Through a peer-led model, the team delivers coordinated, responsive and flexible services, ensuring individuals can access the care they need and experience a seamless connection across the Local and broader service system.

The Mitchell and Murrindindi Surge Team clinician, employed by ADH and working with Wellbeing Peer Navigators from the Mitchell and Murrindindi Surge Team,



will provide evidence-based clinical interventions for participants. The Team will encompass clinically and therapeutically proficient clinicians, providing tailored mental health support to participants and their families via their wellbeing plan, including to those with co-occurring substance use or addiction.

The Mental Health Clinician role will be located onsite across both Alexandra District Health and Yea and District Memorial Hospital, as well as outreach based across bushfire impacted communities.

The successful candidate will have:

- Current AHPRA Registration for Mental Health Nurses, Psychologists and Occupational Therapists OR
- Current registration with AASW for Social Workers.
- Post graduate experience working in a mental health or AOD setting (minimum 6 months)
- Demonstrated time management abilities, excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate a friendly, proactive approach and ability to work with competing demands and balance priorities with efficiency and professionalism.
- Ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
- Experience and training delivering evidence-based therapy.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office Suite
- Experience in using a Client Information Management Systems (CiMs) and Customer Relationship Management Systems (CRM).
