Painter

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Painter to carry out residential, commercial, and/or industrial painting work. The successful candidate will prepare surfaces, apply paints and protective coatings, and ensure all work is completed to a high standard of quality, safety, and workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, filling, patching, and priming.
- Apply paint, varnish, stains, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
- Measure and mix paints and coatings according to specifications.
- Protect furniture, flooring, fixtures, and other surfaces during painting work.
- Repair cracks, holes, damaged surfaces, and other imperfections before painting.
- Select appropriate colours, finishes, and materials for each project.
- Maintain clean and organised work areas.
- Inspect completed work and rectify defects where required.
- Operate and maintain painting tools and equipment safely.
- Follow workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements, including correct use of PPE.
- Work effectively with supervisors, builders, tradespeople, clients, and other contractors.
- Complete work within agreed timeframes and project requirements.

Skills and Experience




- Previous experience as a Painter or in a similar trade role.
- Strong knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation, and coating applications.
- Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and time-management skills.
- Physically capable of working on ladders, scaffolding, and elevated surfaces.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and painting equipment.
- Current Australian driver's licence is desirable.

Qualifications
- Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or equivalent trade qualification is desirable/required depending on the position.
- White Card for construction work where applicable.
- Relevant licences or tickets for elevated work platforms, scaffolding, or other equipment may be required.

Working Conditions The role may involve indoor and outdoor work, working at heights, exposure to paint fumes and dust, and working across residential, commercial, or construction sites. Appropriate PPE and protected work practices must be followed at all times.

Pay: $38.00 – $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
