Introduction:
THE PROSPECT
As a Payroll Officer, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely delivery of end-to-end payroll services, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and awards. The role includes processing payroll transactions and employee payments, managing payroll reconciliations and reporting, preparing payroll journals, supporting year-end payroll requirements, and providing responsive payroll advice and support to employees and managers.
This permanent full-time position (38 hours per week) based in Newcastle West and offers flexible working conditions and the opportunity to accrue an ADO.

Description:
POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position administers payroll for allocated agencies and parishes, ensuring an efficient, effective and timely service, that meets all compliance requirements.
The incumbent commits to working within Work Health and Safety guidelines and Code of Conduct at all times whilst in the employ of the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle.
Skills and Experiences:
EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA
- Demonstrated comprehensive working knowledge and experience of payroll processing, working with a range of awards and agreements (Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role).
- Strong customer service ethic and total focus on servicing payroll customers (both employees and management).
- Ability to use initiative,
maintain confidentiality, maintain accuracy and meet deadlines in a high volume work area.
- Demonstrated level of experience with MS Office Suite – including MS Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills, including effective telephone manner.
- Demonstrated administrative ability, organisational skills, effective time management, and ability to work independently and in a team based environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Tertiary qualifications and/or minimum 3 years experience in a similar role
