About Us
IWS Group is entering an exciting new chapter. As we continue to grow and evolve, we are bringing together established Australian businesses across resource recovery, recycling and environmental services to build a broader, integrated national group.
Backed by Igneo Infrastructure Partners, we are growing through investment, acquisition and integration. Our Group includes IWS in South Australia, Eco Resources in Western Australia and, in New South Wales, Recycle Central Group, Benedict Recycling, Purple Cow Industries and Three Mile Hill.
Our focus is not simply on bringing businesses together, but on building the systems, governance and operating disciplines that allow them to operate more effectively as one Group. We are now progressing a significant transformation across our people and payroll environment, including the centralisation of payroll, the introduction of one Group people system, and the development of a unified national approach to payroll, time and attendance, remuneration, workforce data and reporting.
As part of this transformation, we are looking for an experienced Payroll, Remuneration & People Systems Manager to help design, implement and embed this future-state model.
This is a newly created role with a broad mandate across payroll, remuneration, time and attendance and people systems. It reports to EGM People, Culture and Safety and is based in IWS Group Head Office in North Sydney.

- Helping establish one Group system and a unified national solution for payroll, workforce data and core people processes.
- Designing and embedding nationally consistent payroll processes, controls, approval frameworks and governance.
- Overseeing accurate and compliant end-to-end payroll delivery across the Group.
- Strengthening payroll controls, reconciliations, wage compliance and employee master data governance.
- Establishing clear national processes for onboarding, offboarding, role changes, remuneration changes and payroll approvals.
- Identifying opportunities to simplify, automate and digitise payroll and People & Culture processes.
- Developing nationally consistent reporting across payroll, workforce, labour cost, overtime, leave and remuneration.
- Supporting future acquisitions by enabling efficient integration into the Group’s payroll and people systems environment.
The role also has an important broader remuneration remit. You will support the development and administration of the Group’s remuneration, advantages and incentive arrangements, including:
- salary structures and remuneration data;
- remuneration benchmarking and market analysis;
- annual remuneration reviews;
- short-term incentive and bonus programs;
- benefits and staff offerings;
- remuneration modelling and analysis;
What we are looking for
This role will suit someone who combines strong payroll leadership experience with systems implementation capability and a broader understanding of remuneration.
Ideally, you will bring:
- Significant payroll leadership experience within a multi-entity, multi-state Australian environment.
- Demonstrated experience centralising or consolidating payroll operations or establishing a shared or national payroll model.
- Strong hands-on experience implementing or materially transforming HRIS, payroll and time and attendance systems.
- Practical expertise in time and attendance, particularly within industrial, blue-collar, multi-site or operationally complex environments.
- Strong working knowledge of Australian payroll requirements, including modern awards, employment instruments, superannuation, PAYG withholding, STP, payroll tax and workers’ compensation obligations.
- Experience across remuneration and benefits, including remuneration reviews, benchmarking, salary structures, incentive administration and benefits.
- Advanced numerical, analytical and reporting capability.
- Strong process design, project delivery, documentation and change-management skills.
- The ability to influence and work effectively across Finance, People & Culture, operational leadership and executives.
Experience with Employment Hero will be highly regarded.
