Key Responsibilities

- Lead the regional traffic and transport modelling team, with accountability for the delivery of timely, high-quality transport planning analysis which supports the department's role in integrated transport planning, particularly integrated transport and land use planning. Train and mentor team members.
- Lead the forward traffic and transport modelling program, ensuring modelling activities are planned, prioritised and aligned with departmental priorities and delivered within agreed timeframes to support project development, infrastructure planning and transport outcomes.
- Manage multiple complex projects in line with broad strategic objectives ensuring timeframes, risks and governance requirements are met.
- Provide advice around technical tools and methodologies including modelling, data analysis, geospatial mapping, and statistics. Drive the efficient application and continuous improvement of modelling processes in consideration of the sensitivities and limitations to these tools and techniques.
- Proactively engage with internal and external stakeholders. Translate their needs into measurable outputs and provide technical advice and best practice process to achieve stakeholder outcomes.

- Communicate complex information to non-technical people both orally and in writing. Prepare and present information to large and small groups.
- Maintain knowledge of key departmental and government strategies and broader global trends in transport planning and be proactive in adopting contemporary methodologies to support those strategies.
- Work collaboratively with other units in North Coast Region to promote departmental goals and achieve outcomes for stakeholders.

Mandatory Qualifications And Conditions





- Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.

Desirable

- Tertiary qualifications at the degree level or higher in Transport Planning, Engineering, Town Planning, Statistics, GIS, Modelling, Mathematics or similar.
- An understanding of transport modelling processes and software packages is an advantage.

Requirements Of The Role

- High level knowledge of traffic and transport modelling, traffic forecasting, data analysis and modelling, and geospatial mapping techniques applicable to integrated transport and land use planning.
- Applies high level understanding of traffic and transport planning principles, selects the most appropriate processes, and guides others.
- Proven ability to analyse complex transport, traffic and demographic datasets, interpret modelling outputs and forecasts and draw evidenced based conclusions that support transport planning, project development and investment decision making.
- Highly developed project management skills and demonstrated experience in managing multiple complex projects to achieve outcomes and meet deadlines.
