? | About the Role | Psychosocial Clinical Lead The Psychosocial Clinical Lead will provide day-to-day clinical leadership across three key service streams: the Newcastle Cannabis Clinic, Stimulant Treatment Program, and Community Counselling teams. The role combines clinical leadership with a small individual caseload, offering an opportunity to remain connected to direct client care while supporting high-quality clinical practice across the services.

Working closely with staff, the Psychosocial Clinical Lead will provide clinical guidance across intake processes, clinical reviews, caseload reviews and complex case consultation, while supporting the ongoing development of staff capability, confidence and clinical skills.

The role will also provide clinical supervision to DACS staff and Psychology Masters students on placement, contributing to the development of emerging practitioners and strengthening clinical practice across the organisation.

You will be well supported by an experienced leadership team, including your Line Manager, District Allied Health Lead, District Manager and Senior Nurse Manager. A strong commitment to professional growth and continuous learning is encouraged, with access to regular education sessions, training and professional development opportunities to support your clinical expertise and career aspirations.

The Psychosocial Clinical Lead will also have access to ongoing clinical supervision, ensuring you are supported to develop your practice, explore areas of qualified interest and continue building your leadership capability.

? Where You’ll Be Working

Based at James Fletcher Hospital, just moments from the beautiful Newcastle Beach, you’ll work in a welcoming and collaborative clinical environment with two of the teams you’ll lead - the Newcastle Cannabis Clinic and Stimulant Treatment Program.

The Community Counselling team operates across several locations throughout Greater Newcastle, providing accessible psychosocial support within the community.

You’ll work alongside a diverse and experienced team of Clinical Psychologists, Psychologists, Counsellors, and Nurse Counsellors, with opportunities to collaborate across disciplines, share expertise, and contribute to high-quality, person-centred care across the region.

Essential Requirements:

- For Clinical Psychologist: Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate clinical psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent, displayed on the Psychology Board of Australia.
- For Senior Psychologist: Hold general registration (or be eligible for same) as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia via AHPRA and either been employed on Year 9 on the psychology scale for at least one year or applied for a regrade to the position of senior psychologist and have had it successfully approved via a psychology regrade committee.
- Eligibility for professional membership with the relevant professional association and full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) where applicable.
- Demonstrated years' experience consistent with the minimum requirements outlined in the relevant industrial award for the profession.
- Eligibility to drive in NSW and ability to travel for work purposes.
