Job Description

One of Australia's leading renewable energy IPPs is seeking a Design Manager to support the continued growth of its generation and storage portfolio. This business owns and operates its own assets long term, so this is not a design-and-hand-off role. The successful candidate will be involved from early development through to construction and into operational performance, with real accountability for how designs hold up over the asset's life.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead design across solar and and battery storage projects, from feasibility and development through to detailed design and construction support
n
- Manage external design consultants and EPC partners, ensuring designs are technically sound, buildable, and commercially sensible
n
- Review and approve technical designs, ensuring compliance with Australian standards, grid connection requirements and AEMO/NER obligations
n
- Work closely with development, construction, and asset management teams to ensure design decisions support long-term operational performance, not just project handover

- Provide technical input into due diligence for new acquisitions and greenfield development opportunities
n
- Manage design risk and value engineering across the project lifecycle, balancing cost, constructability and long-term asset performance

About You

n

n
- Robust design management background across renewable generation and/or storage (solar or BESS)
n
- Experience working within or alongside an IPP, developer, or asset owner highly regarded, given the long-term ownership mindset this role requires
n
- Solid understanding of grid connection processes, AEMO/NER requirements and Australian design standards
n
- Comfortable managing external consultants and EPC contractors, with robust stakeholder management skills
n
- Genuine interest in the long-term performance of assets, not just delivery of a design package
n
