About the role:
- Acting on complex construction and infrastructure disputes for contractors, subcontractors and other major project participants
- Managing multi-million dollar claims involving variations, delay and disruption, extensions of time, liquidated damages, defects, design issues, termination and contractual entitlements
- Acting in Security of Payment adjudications and advising both claimants and respondents on payment disputes
- Running complex litigation and assisting with matters before superior courts
- Advising on dispute strategy and representing clients through negotiation, mediation, adjudication, expert determination and arbitration
- Working closely with clients throughout project delivery to identify risks,
preserve contractual entitlements and resolve disputes commercially
- Taking responsibility for matters, supervising junior lawyers and developing strong client relationships
The ideal candidate:
- Senior Associate with 5+ years’ PQE and solid back-end construction experience
- Experience in construction litigation, adjudication and/or major project disputes
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts and the issues that commonly arise during project delivery
- Experience with Security of Payment legislation will be highly regarded
- Strong drafting, technical and strategic dispute resolution skills
- Commercial and pragmatic approach to advising clients
- Comfortable managing matters with a high level of autonomy while working collaboratively within a specialist construction team
