We are seeking highly motivated and experienced Lawyers to join our Office of General Counsel.
As a Senior Lawyer, you will provide legal advice and dispute resolution services across a range of general law matters affecting ATO operations. You will analyse, interpret and apply legislation, policies, legal principles and precedent to resolve complex legal issues and provide strategic legal advice to senior leaders and business partners.
You will identify, evaluate and manage complex or sensitive legal matters, exercise a high degree of judgement and autonomy, and take ownership of legal outcomes. You will influence decision-making across the organisation and support the effective management of legal risk.
Leading a small team, you’ll develop staff capability and mentor less experienced lawyers.

- Civil and Monetary Claims
- Employment and Commercial Law
- Administrative, Privacy and Secrecy Law
- Freedom of Information
- communicates effectively, negotiates outcomes and influences senior business partners to support legally sound decision-making
- leads, mentors and develops legal professionals using an inclusive and team-oriented approach
- manages competing priorities, adapts to changing business needs and actively supports organisational objectives and future challenges
- must hold a degree in Law from an Australian tertiary institution or a comparable overseas equivalent and is admitted as a legal practitioner in Australia.
