The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority is responsible for protecting and managing one of Australia’s most iconic coastal landscapes. We care for parks, reserves and marine environments along the Great Ocean Road, including internationally recognised visitor sites. Working closely with Traditional Owners, communities and stakeholders, we protect environmental, cultural and heritage values while supporting sustainable visitation and long‑term conservation.
About The Role The Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (GORCAPA) is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Project Manager to join our Capital Works Team on a 6-month fixed-term basis.
This role is responsible for leading the planning, procurement and delivery of major capital works projects across one of Australia's most iconic coastal regions. Working across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects, you will manage every stage of project delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the highest standard.
You will play a critical role in delivering community and visitor infrastructure that protects and enhances the unique environmental, cultural and heritage values of the Great Ocean Road region.
What You'll Do
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of major capital works projects, including projects exceeding $10 million.
- Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, risk assessments and project management plans.
- Oversee consultants, contractors and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Administer construction and consultancy contracts and support procurement activities.
- Monitor project performance, budgets, risks and quality outcomes.
- Prepare high-quality reports, board papers and funding body updates.
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement with government agencies, funding partners, community groups and internal teams.
- Provide specialist project management advice across the organisation.
- Mentor and support team members in project governance, reporting and project delivery best practice.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislative, cultural heritage, environmental and occupational health and safety requirements.
What We're Looking For
You are an experienced project management professional with a strong track record delivering complex capital works projects from concept through to completion.
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Bring
- Qualifications in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Environmental Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
- Significant experience managing complex infrastructure, building or civil works projects.
- Strong financial management, project planning and risk management capabilities.
- Experience coordinating contractors, consultants and multiple stakeholder groups.
- Excellent communication, consultation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes.
- Strong knowledge of construction management, project governance and contract administration.
- A collaborative leadership style with the ability to mentor and support others.
- White Card (Construction Induction Training).
- Experience in coastal infrastructure, coastal engineering or resilience planning will be highly regarded.
