FOR CURRENT APS EMPLOYEES ONLY The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is seeking applications from high performing individuals to fill the role of Senior Project Officer. Our ideal candidate is a motivated individual with an interest in communications, project coordination, change management and business readiness activities. The role will support the delivery of grants system initiatives by developing communication products, maintaining business documentation, engaging with stakeholders and contributing to learning and support resources for the NHMRC Grants Management System.
The role is only available to current APS employees as a S26 temporary transfer at level or on higher duties for a period of 9 months.

About the Branch The Technology and Data Branch enables NHMRC by harnessing technology and data to meet both present and future business needs.
The Branch is comprised of the IT Management and Strategy (ITMS), Business Intelligence and Data Access (BIDA), Grant Systems Section (GSS) and Data Analytics, Reporting and MREA (DARMS) sections.
About the Section The Grant Systems Section (GSS) is responsible for the management and administration of NHMRC’s grant management platform (Sapphire) and operational reporting environment. Its broader responsibilities include contract and service delivery, project delivery, system support and configuration.
Job specific duties
As the Senior Project Officer, you will:
- Plan and support training and business readiness activities for grants system initiatives, working with stakeholders to identify learning needs and help users prepare for change.
- Design, develop and maintain training and support resources, including user guides, quick reference materials, SharePoint pages, presentations, facilitator materials and instructional content for grants management systems and associated processes.
- Coordinate and work with the Training Lead to deliver training sessions and other learning activities for internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop clear, accurate and audience-appropriate communication and written products, including executive briefing reports, committee papers, project updates, FAQs, knowledge articles and other business documentation.
- Support project coordination and change management activities by maintaining business documentation, tracking actions and dependencies, and contributing to stakeholder engagement and readiness planning.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by monitoring stakeholder feedback, identifying opportunities to improve training, communication and support materials, and sharing lessons learned.

Highly desirable The following demonstrated knowledge, experience and qualifications will be highly regarded:
- Relevant qualifications or experience in project management, communications, learning and development or related field.
- Understanding of the grants management lifecycle and peer review process.
- Experience working in an ICT transformation program.
- Strong document formatting skills with an eye for human centred design in standard tools like Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in or willingness to learn project management tools such as DevOps and video editing tools such as Camtasia.
Location The role is available in either Canberra or Melbourne.
Eligibility
This EOI is open to current Commonwealth employees only. Non-ongoing employees are not eligible for temporary transfers under section 26 of the Public Service Act 1999. Non-ongoing employees may be eligible for a secondment if the term of the secondment does not exceed the term of their engagement, and is consistent with the employment instrument the employee is engaged under.
