Lead VECRA’s risk and compliance arrangements, strengthening governance, assurance and organisational decision-making. Work across the authority to build practical frameworks, manage emerging risks and support continuous improvement. About the Branch The Governance and Corporate Support Branch lead the provision of quality corporate support services and functions (including human resources and occupation health and safety, risk and audit, finance, fleet, accommodation and organisational strategic projects) which enable successful operation of VECRA. In addition, the Governance and Corporate Support Branch is responsible for the oversight, delivery and reporting of the compliance and audit obligations required of a statutory authority.

About the Team The Governance and Corporate Support team, within the Governance and Corporate Support Branch, is responsible for delivering a broad remit spanning procurement, fleet and accommodation, organisational governance and secretariat, strategic and business planning, audit and risk, and organisational strategic projects, such as the Annual Report.

The team works closely with leaders across VECRA and the Department of Education providing an important role in connecting VECRA to the broader government environment while continuing to build the systems, processes and practices needed for an effective and mature organisation.

About the Role The Senior Risk and Compliance Officer is key to supporting VECRA to maintain effective risk, compliance, audit and assurance arrangements as a statutory authority. The role leads the development,



implementation and monitoring of risk and compliance frameworks and processes, working with teams across VECRA to identify risks, strengthen controls and support effective governance and assurance. The role provides an chance to establish practical and proportionate risk and compliance arrangements that support informed decision-making and provide confidence that organisational obligations are being effectively managed.

Attributes

We are looking for someone who is analytical, pragmatic and thorough, with the confidence to work with teams across VECRA to identify risks, test assumptions and support effective compliance. You will have sound judgement and be comfortable working through complex or emerging issues, translating requirements into practical advice and workable processes. You will be able to balance assurance with a constructive and solutions-focused approach, building relationships that encourage teams to engage positively with risk and compliance.

You will have strong attention to detail and the ability to analyse information, identify emerging issues and communicate findings clearly. You will be adaptable and improvement-focused, with the initiative to strengthen risk, compliance and assurance practices as VECRA continues to mature.

Qualifications and Experience

- Experience: Demonstrated experience in risk management, governance, compliance or a related corporate function
- Qualifications:



A degree or relevant qualification in risk management, governance, public administration, business or related discipline
- Essential: A valid Working with Children Check
