ABOUT THE COMPANY
A Sydney-based structural engineering consultancy specialising in building diagnostics, remediation and forensic investigation for existing Class 2 residential and commercial buildings. The team works closely with owners, builders and legal teams to diagnose structural issues and deliver compliant rectification solutions.
ROLE
We're looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to lead site inspections, forensic investigations and remedial design for existing Class 2 buildings, including expert reporting and NCAT/Court expert witness work.
BENEFITS
Competitive salary of $150K-$180K + super (TBN pending level of experience - there's flexibility for the right person) a hands‑on senior role with genuine autonomy, and the opportunity to build deep specialist expertise in remediation and forensic engineering within a close‑knit, technically focused team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES
- Conduct site inspections and forensic investigations on distressed structures, including facades, to diagnose defects, concrete cancer and waterproofing failures
- Prepare structural rectification designs, drawings and specifications for remedial works including strengthening and facade refurbishment
- Ensure remedial designs comply with Australian Standards and the NCC, including preparing Declared Designs under the NSW DBP Act 2020
- Produce technical reports and Expert Witness Reports for NCAT hearings and Court proceedings
- Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 4501 and ISO 1401 quality, safety and environmental standards
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE (No more than 5)
- 10-15+ years' structural engineering experience with a strong focus on Class 2 developments
- Extensive experience in remediation, forensic investigation, building diagnostics and facade assessment
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- CPEng/NPEng registration highly desirable, ideally as a Registered Design Practitioner under the DBP Act
- Proficient in structural analysis software (e.g. SpaceGass, ETABS) with strong knowledge of the NCC and Australian Standards
