St John of God Midland Public Hospital is a 307-bed public hospital providing a diverse range of healthcare services to the Midland and surrounding communities. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, Social Workers support patients and families across areas including acute mental health, maternity, paediatrics, aged care, stroke, medical and surgical services and emergency care.

Your role

We are seeking applications from experienced and compassionate Social Worker Grade 2 to join the team at St John of God Midland on a 13-month fixed-term contract, commencing in October 2026 and concluding in November 2027.

This is an opportunity to provide high-quality clinical Social Work services within a supportive multidisciplinary team, working with patients and families experiencing complex social and health circumstances.

You will draw on your advanced clinical practice skills across areas including Child Protection, domestic violence, complex health diagnoses and disability, while contributing to the delivery and ongoing development of Social Work services within the clinical specialty.

The Position

- Provide clinical social work services to client groups experiencing complex circumstances requiring advanced practice skills.

- Demonstrate clinical knowledge and skills in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of Social Work interventions.

- Ensure appropriate prioritisation and delegation of the Social Work caseload.

- Participate in a multidisciplinary approach to client care and contribute to the evaluation of the Social Work service and Clinical Specialty.

- Initiate, lead and participate in quality improvement activities to improve service delivery and patient outcomes within the clinical specialty area.





- Provide an outpatient service to Paediatric clinic patients.

- Undertake safety net monitoring of Under 5s presenting to the SJGMPH Emergency Department for Non-Accidental Injury.

- Liaise with community agencies including the Department of Child Protection, Child Protection Unit at PCH, tertiary medical services and parenting support service providers.

About You

You will hold a tertiary qualification in Social Work and be eligible for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers or Society of Professional Social Workers.

You will bring demonstrated clinical experience in the specialised area of Child Protection and family support, together with high-level analytical thinking, innovative problem-solving and time management skills.

You will have demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with community agencies and services, including the Department of Child Protection, Child Protection Unit at PCH, tertiary medical services and parenting support service providers.

Above all, you will bring strong clinical social work skills and the ability to support clients experiencing complex circumstances within a multidisciplinary environment.

- Grade 2 salary banding: $130,914 to $139,591 (pro rata for part time) plus 12% Superannuation
