Employment Opportunity
Information Division delivers the department's ICT infrastructure, business systems, projects and information governance across cloud and on-premises environments. The Architecture Team sets technology direction, governs architecture and enables secure, sustainable digital capabilities.
As an EL2 Solution Architect, you will lead solution design across complex initiatives and enterprise platforms. You will work with delivery partners to shape and assure solutions, resolve complex issues and provide authoritative advice to executives, governance bodies and delivery teams.
The successful applicant will:
- develop end-to-end solution architectures, options assessments, roadmaps, patterns and detailed designs
- guide the migration of legacy services to Azure, Microsoft 365 and SaaS platforms
- design and assure cloud, identity, network and security solutions, including SASE and zero-trust approaches
- direct vendors and delivery partners to meet departmental requirements and standards
- assess technical deliverables and resolve design issues through implementation
- guide the integration and governance of enterprise platforms
- manage architectural risks, dependencies and trade-offs across concurrent initiatives
- provide clear advice and build relationships that influence decisions and deliver outcomes.
How you can help us make a difference
We are seeking an experienced technology professional with strong solution architecture expertise and the leadership, judgement, and influence expected at the EL2 level. You will lead and contribute to complex solution designs, collaborate with delivery partners, resolve issues and provide explicit advice to technical, business and executive stakeholders.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- experience leading architecture and design for complex enterprise solutions
- ability to personally produce high-quality architecture artefacts, including blueprints, designs, roadmaps, options assessments and gap analyses.
- deep knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, SaaS platforms and cloud migration
- strong experience in cloud security, identity and network architecture, including SASE and zero-trust principles
- the ability to direct vendors, influence designs and assure technical deliverables
- sound judgement in balancing business, security, technical, financial and operational needs
- experience applying architecture, cybersecurity, information management and integration requirements
- ability to work across multidisciplinary teams, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes
- highly developed communication, negotiation and influencing skills
- a collaborative approach to knowledge sharing and organisational capability building.
Other qualifications: Relevant qualifications or industry certifications are desirable. Australian Government architecture and security experience would be advantageous.
To be eligible for employment at the Attorney-General’s Department applicants must be Australian citizens.
Applicants offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a police record check and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a specified clearance level. The successful applicant must be willing to disclose all relevant and required information.
Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created from this process, and will be active for 18 months after the date of this gazettal.
