About the role

Specialist Family Violence Clinician- Horizon Family Violence Program

Permanent Full Time hours available

Colac Area Health is a values-based organisation providing a unique integrated health service comprising of over 500 employees, providing Acute Care, Aged Care, Community and Allied Health Services.

This role provides specialist Family Violence (FV) case management from a gender, feminist structural lens with an emphasis on safety and perpetrator accountability. This specialist role recognises the diversity of victim survivor and young people’s lives and values these difference and similarities.

The role encompasses all aspects of FV risk assessment, safety planning, advocacy, goal directed casework, court support and onward referral for victim survivors, children and young people who are experiencing or have experienced family violence.





The role will offer secondary consultations and best practice principles that are evidence informed and provide client outcomes that increase safety and stability and long term recovery for victim survivors, children and young people. The role offers culturally safe and gender sensitive inclusive practice responses with an outreach component as required.

What’s required?

- Tertiary qualification in social work, psychology and/or equivalent.
- Demonstrated experience in working within the family violence sector and within the MARAM family violence framework is preferable.
- Demonstrated ability to work with tight time schedules and provide flexible, culturally safe and inclusive case management support.
- Demonstrated understanding of the gendered nature of family violence, intersectionality and valuing lived experience.
- Demonstrated experience of working positively and productively within a team and the integrated practice system.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice including an understanding of family violence legislation and the socio-political context of poverty, violence and the way these impacts on victim survivors, children and their family relationships.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required.
- Demonstrated experience with data and record keeping and IT systems.
- Willingness to participate in further training and professional development.
- Current Victorian Driver’s License; Working with Children Check and clear National Policy History Check.
