Your Role
As a Child Health Nurse within this Aboriginal Health Service, you will be working in a highly autonomous and diverse role, providing frontline primary health care services to remote Aboriginal communities across East Arnhem Land. You will work as part of a team delivering a broad scope of care including emergency presentations, triage, chronic disease management, child and maternal health, health assessments, care planning, immunisations and health promotion. The role often combines clinic-based care with outreach and community engagement, requiring nurses to build strong relationships with local Yolŋu communities and work in a culturally safe and respectful manner.
The CHN roles across Zone 1 do not require on call work. Other cinics in the region have one position in each clinic that is purely Child Health with no on call.
Two clinics on call is required so you would also need to be a qualified RAN for these ones.
Essential Criteria
- AHPRA registration with no restrictions
- Current Manual Driver's License
- At least (3) years of post-graduate experience
- A minimum of 12 months recent Child Health Nursing experience and ideally your post grad in Child Health
- Willing to travel in small charter planes, and the ability to drive a 4WD
- Must have full Australian working rights (i.e., Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, a valid Working Visa, or New Zealand Citizenship)
Nurses who thrive here are often those looking for meaningful work, solid community connection, varied clinical exposure and the chance to work alongside experienced multidisciplinary teams while immersing themselves in a truly unique part of Australia.
