ABOUT US

Creative Devotional Counselling Pty Ltd is a Queensland-owned counselling
practice and registered NDIS provider based in Springwood. We deliver
counselling, in-home family support, community participation, therapeutic
supports and respite services to families across the Logan, Beaudesert and
Ipswich regions, with additional service sites at Bellbird Park, Flagstone and
North Maclean. Our team is multilingual and works with a culturally diverse
client base.

THE ROLE

We are seeking a full-time, permanent Family Support Worker to join our team
at Springwood. Salary is $80,000 – $88,000 per annum plus 12% superannuation,
commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Working alongside our counsellors, social workers, support coordinators and
community nursing staff, you will provide practical and emotional support to
families and to NDIS participants, helping them to build skills, access
services and work towards their goals. The role is community-based: you will
spend most of your week in clients' homes and in the community rather than at
a desk.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Assess the needs and circumstances of families referred to the service,
including family functioning, parenting capacity, safety, health, housing
and financial wellbeing.
- Develop, implement and review individual and family support plans with
measurable goals, in collaboration with the family and the Case Manager.
- Deliver structured in-home and community-based family support, including
parenting skill development, household routines and budgeting, and
engagement with health and education services.
- Support NDIS participants and their families to work towards their plan
goals across daily living, social and community participation and
capacity-building supports.
- Implement behaviour support and therapeutic strategies developed by
clinicians, including in supported independent living and short-term
accommodation (respite) settings.
- Identify, assess, escalate and document risks to the safety and wellbeing of
children, young people and vulnerable adults, and comply with mandatory
reporting and NDIS incident reporting obligations.
- Refer and connect families to housing, health, mental health, legal,
education, financial counselling and specialist domestic and family violence
services, and advocate on their behalf.
- Maintain accurate, timely and objective case notes, progress reports and
incident reports to the standard required by funding bodies.




- Participate in supervision, team meetings, case reviews and ongoing
career development.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

Qualifications
- A completed AQF Diploma or higher in Community Services, Human Services,
Social Work, Youth Work, Psychology, Behavioural Science or a closely related
discipline (for example CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services or
equivalent).
- Applicants without a formal qualification will be considered where they can
demonstrate at least three years of directly relevant full-time equivalent
experience in family support or a closely related field.

Experience
- A minimum of 12 months' recent, paid experience delivering family support,
child and family intervention, out-of-home or residential care, or
NDIS-funded individual and family supports.
- Demonstrated experience working with families experiencing complex and
co-occurring needs, including disability, mental illness, domestic and family
violence, substance use, financial hardship or statutory child protection
involvement.
- Demonstrated experience conducting needs assessments and developing,
implementing and reviewing goal-directed support plans.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining case notes, progress reports and incident
reports to the standard required by a government or NDIS funding body.

Knowledge and skills
- Working knowledge of strengths-based, person-centred, child-centred and
trauma-informed practice frameworks.
- Sound working knowledge of the Queensland child protection framework,
including mandatory reporting obligations under the Child Protection Act 1999
(Qld).
- Sound working knowledge of the NDIS, including participant plans and goals,
core and capacity-building support categories, the NDIS Practice Standards,
the NDIS Code of Conduct and reportable incident obligations.
- Understanding of positive behaviour support principles and awareness of
regulated restrictive practices.
- Demonstrated risk assessment, safety planning, de-escalation and crisis
response skills in home and community settings.




- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and unsupervised in clients' homes
and in the community while maintaining professional boundaries,
confidentiality and accurate records.
- Well-developed written communication skills, sufficient to produce case notes
and reports relied upon by funding bodies and statutory agencies.
- Demonstrated cultural capability in working with culturally and
linguistically diverse families and with Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander families.
- Competence with Microsoft Office and electronic client management systems.

MANDATORY CLEARANCES AND LICENCES

Held, or able to be obtained before commencement:
- Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- National Police Check
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module certificate
- Current Queensland open driver's licence, a reliable roadworthy vehicle and
comprehensive motor vehicle insurance (daily travel between client homes and
service sites is required)
- Valid rights to work in Australia

DESIRABLE

- A Bachelor or Master level qualification in Social Work or Human Services,
and eligibility for membership of the AASW or ACA.
- Experience in supported independent living or short-term accommodation
(respite) settings.
- Experience delivering Queensland Government funded in-home family support or
child and family intervention programs.
- Ability to converse in a second language relevant to our client base, for
example Spanish, Mandarin, Hindi, Punjabi or Nepali.
- Experience with, or interest in, animal-assisted or equine-assisted
therapeutic programs.

HOURS AND CONDITIONS

Full time, permanent — 38 hours per week (76 hours per fortnight), generally
Monday to Friday. Some evening, weekend and sleepover shifts are required on a
rostered basis to support our respite and residential programs.
