About the Role
GBS Recruitment is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced Dairy Farmers for casual work at the Ellinbank SmartFarm, a world leading commercial dairy and research facility operated by Agriculture Victoria Research (AVR).
This is a hands-on, physically active role ideal for someone with experience in dairy farming, who enjoys working outdoors and being part of a team. You will assist with milking, feeding, fencing, and livestock management, helping to maintain high standards of animal care. Casual rate is $38.14 per hour plus applicable penalties and superannuation.
Responsibilities
Dairy Operations

- Prepare and assist with milking operations (400+ cows)
- Monitor herd health and assist with treatments
- Maintain hygienic standards in the dairy and stock yards

Animal Care

- Move and handle stock safely
- Identify basic health issues
- Assist with vaccinations, drenching, and other treatments

General Farm Work

- Set up temporary fencing and maintain stock yards
- Load and transport feed (hay, silage)
- Operate farm machinery such as tractors
- Assist with irrigation, water systems,



and general farm maintenance

About You
We are looking for someone who:

- Has previous experience in dairy farming or milking operations of 150+ cows
- Is physically fit and comfortable working outdoors
- Has a solid work ethic and a can-do attitude
- Enjoys working with animals and being part of a team
- Can operate farm machinery confidently (tractors, 4WD, etc.)
- Is reliable, practical, and willing to learn new skills

Mandatory Requirements

- Australian Working Rights
- Current Driver Licence
- Physically fit for outdoor work
- Q Fever vaccination or willingness to obtain
- Police Check or willingness to obtain
