SASH Western Sydney offers the Greater Western Sydney region a full-service specialist and 24/7 emergency veterinary hospital, offering multiple specialist departments and state-of-the-art facilities including on-site CT, MRI and advanced surgical suites.
We are looking for experienced, enthusiastic nurses to join our Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) Team, where you’ll be right in the action, supporting patients throughout their entire SASH journey and helping with inpatient care, triage and emergency cases in a dynamic, rewarding and truly hands-on hospital environment.
What Your Day-to-Day Looks Like:
- Build confidence across a range of advanced veterinary nursing skills, with opportunities to perform, assist and learn
- Care for patients managing indwelling devices such as arterial lines, high-flow nasal oxygen, urinary catheters and feeding tubes
- Be part of CPR resuscitation efforts and urgent emergency care when every moment counts
- Support patient admissions and discharges across ICU, ER and hospital wards
- Collect and process laboratory samples for internal and external analysis
- Assist with referrals of critical care cases from general practice clinics
- Perform patient triage, clinical procedures and inpatient assessment and treatment
- Assist with anaesthesia in collaboration with anaesthetists across the SASH network
- Administer medications via various routes
- Maintain clear, accurate documentation and records
Who Are We Looking For?
- Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent)
- A minimum of 2 years’ full-time experience as a qualified nurse
- Genuinely interested in Emergency and Critical Care, with a desire to be involved throughout a patient's SASH journey
- Demonstrated experience managing and prioritising tasks in a busy clinical environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to confidently liaise with clients and uphold clear and accurate patient records
- Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends and overnights as part of a 24/7 emergency department
Previous experience in emergency or specialist nursing would be highly regarded but is not essential.
