As Team Leader - Finance Operations, you'll lead a dedicated team at the heart of Council's financial operations, drive process improvements, contribute to key organisational projects and help shape the future of finance service delivery at Singleton Council. You'll gain valuable local government experience, exposure to systems and business improvement initiatives, and the chance to work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation.





Reporting to the Coordinator Finance Operations and Systems Improvements, the Team Leader - Finance Operations is responsible for leading and coordinating Council's Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury and Payroll functions while supporting the delivery of statutory reporting, compliance requirements and financial process improvements. You will provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to a dedicated team and act as a key escalation point for finance-related enquiries.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate Council's Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Treasury functions.
- Support the preparation of statutory financial reports and returns.
- Review and enhance internal controls, systems and processes.
- Contribute to the successful completion of annual financial audits.
- Provide leadership, coaching and support to finance team members.
- Assist with reconciliations, data management and master file maintenance.
- Support compliance with legislative, regulatory and policy requirements.
- Collaborate across the organisation to deliver high-quality customer service and financial support.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A Diploma in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or significant contemporary experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach, motivate and support staff.
- Strong knowledge and experience in payroll, accounts payable and/or accounts receivable functions.
- Advanced analytical, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and computer literacy skills.
- A commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
- A current Class C Driver Licence.





This position is offered on a Term contract, Full-time basis working 35 hours per week. Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 12 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $99,421 - $111,834 per annum plus superannuation.
