Teaching Service Position Information Newtown High School of the Performing Arts is a partially selective (in Dance, Music and Drama), co-educational, comprehensive school located on Gadigal Land approximately 5 kms southwest of Sydney CBD. The student population is approximately 1120. The school is strongly supported by an active and engaged Parents and Citizens Association as well as the broader community. Specific Selection Criteria 1. Current approval to teach Drama and VET Entertainment, with knowledge of relevant NSW curriculum,
assessment and reporting requirements and the capacity to deliver engaging programs across a range of student abilities and year levels.
- Highly effective teaching practice, with the capacity to design and deliver differentiated Drama programs that meet diverse student needs, including High Potential and Gifted students.
- Capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues and deliver co-curricular Drama programs, including performances, productions, ensembles, workshops and theatrical activities, with the capacity to direct and manage school productions.
- Knowledge and experience in Stage 5 Design and Media: Film Studies, with the capacity to deliver engaging, practical learning that develops student creativity, confidence and collaboration.
Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
