Teaching Service Position Information John Edmondson High School, with an enrolment of approximately 1130 students, including 75% of students from a non-English speaking background and 33 Aboriginal students, is a dynamic Year 7 - 12 comprehensive co-educational high school. The school serves a community in South West Sydney in the Liverpool area that includes a wide range of families from diverse cultural and socio-economic groups living in suburban, as well as semi-rural environments. The school has an extensive curriculum and promotes academic, sporting and leadership development and achievement. Innovative features include extensive technological resources and numerous opportunities for student enrichment. Strong links with partner Primary Schools as well as external providers are being extended to further develop student opportunities for learning and success. Specific Selection Criteria Approval to teach special education teaching students with Autism and willing to teach students with Mild Intellectual Disability.
Demonstrated capacity to create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment, with proven classroom management expertise and wellbeing practices to suppport students with autism and/or mild to moderate intellectual disabilities.
Demonstrated ability to differentiate curriculum and pedagogy to effectively support a wide range of student learning needs, while maintaining high expectations for all students.
Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to establish and sustain effective partnerships with all stakeholders to improve educational and wellbeing outcomes for students.
Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
