Location: Sydney, NSW
Work arrangement: Hybrid, with attendance at the HorizonX Sydney CBD office and client sites as required
Employment type: Full-time
Reporting to: Technology and Delivery Leadership
Salary: $100K + Superannuation
At HorizonX, we are looking for an experienced, highly talented and delivery-focused Technical Project Manager to help accelerate our growing Professional Services business. You will lead the end-to-end delivery of complex ICT projects involving artificial intelligence, data, cloud and modern software engineering, helping enterprise clients move from strategy and experimentation into secure, scalable and measurable production outcomes.
HorizonX Professional Services engages in a wide variety of projects for customers and partners. We bring together experience from across our customer base and are obsessed with strong outcomes for the customer. Our teams collaborate with clients to understand the problem, organise delivery, coordinate the right specialists and implement practical solutions based on real business needs.
What we are looking for
· An experienced Technical Project Manager who is accountable for planning, organising, directing, controlling and coordinating the delivery of complex ICT projects.
· A delivery leader who owns project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, priorities, risks, governance, milestones, deliverables and acceptance.
· Someone with sufficient technical understanding to manage AI, data, cloud and modern engineering projects and work credibly with technical specialists, without replacing the separate responsibilities of a solution architect, product owner or hands-on engineer.
· A trusted client partner who brings structure to ambiguity, communicates clearly, identifies delivery risks early and keeps multidisciplinary teams aligned around agreed outcomes.
Responsibilities
· Plan and manage the end-to-end delivery of ICT projects involving AI, data, cloud, enterprise integration and modern digital platforms from initiation through implementation, transition and closure.
· Define, maintain and communicate project scope, objectives, schedules, milestones, budgets, resource plans, deliverables, dependencies and acceptance criteria.
· The role manages the delivery of up-to-date technology initiatives. Depending on the client engagement, projects may involve:
- Generative AI, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents and intelligent automation
- Machine learning, enterprise search, recommendation, personalisation and conversational experiences
- Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud
- Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, dbt and cloud-native data services
- Data lakes, warehouses, lakehouse platforms, data pipelines, analytics and data governance
- APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, containers, Kubernetes and serverless computing
- DevOps, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring, logging and observability
- AI testing and evaluation, security, privacy, human oversight, guardrails and responsible deployment
· Organise and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams,
including architects, engineers, data specialists, analysts, testers, vendors and client stakeholders; allocate and prioritise activities and clarify delivery responsibilities.
· Monitor project progress, expenditure, resource utilisation, quality and delivery performance against approved plans, and implement corrective actions when required.
· Identify and manage project risks, issues, assumptions, dependencies and constraints, and control proposed changes by assessing their impact on schedule, cost, resources, quality and delivery risk.
· Establish and operate effective project governance, decision-making forums, status reporting, stakeholder communications, project records and escalation pathways.
· Facilitate project discovery, planning, status reviews, steering meetings and Agile or hybrid delivery ceremonies required to drive decisions and maintain delivery momentum.
· Coordinate architecture, data, security, privacy, testing, quality assurance and responsible AI activities with the relevant technical specialists, ensuring technical dependencies and non-functional requirements are addressed within the project plan.
· Manage delivery against the relevant statement of work, approved budget and agreed milestones, and provide transparent visibility of scope variance, contractual commitments and required decisions.
· Coordinate release planning, production readiness, implementation, cutover, post-go-live stabilisation, operational handover, acceptance, benefits review, lessons learned and project closure.
Who You Are
You are driven by a customer mission and passionate about being part of a tribe of great people. Whatever you love across technology, engineering, data or AI, you are active in the community that sits around it and curious about where the industry is heading.
You orient around work that is meaningful, purposeful and delivers value. You are excited by digital transformation, emerging technology and the opportunity to help organisations use AI responsibly and practically rather than following hype.
You are curious and empathetic, with an eye for the bigger picture. You deal with complexity by collaborating with colleagues, listening to customers, testing assumptions and continuously learning. You take authorship for what you create and ownership for what you commit to deliver.
· Takes ownership and follows issues through to resolution
· Brings structure, clarity and calm to ambiguous or rapidly changing initiatives
· Moves comfortably between executive conversations and detailed delivery discussions
· Challenges assumptions respectfully and constructively
· Communicates clearly, directly and transparently
· Balances pace with appropriate governance, quality and risk management
· Understands that successful AI delivery depends on people, process, data, technology and governance
· Values practical business outcomes over impressive demonstrations
What you bring
· Significant experience managing complex ICT projects or programmes, preferably within a consulting, systems integration or enterprise technology environment.
· Demonstrated experience delivering projects involving data, cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning or modern software engineering.
· Strong experience managing project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, vendors, dependencies, risks, change and delivery governance.
· Experience coordinating multidisciplinary technical teams across the full project and software delivery lifecycle.
· Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, Kanban or hybrid delivery approaches, together with the ability to operate within formal enterprise governance structures.
· Demonstrated ability to work with solution architects, engineering leaders and technical specialists on complex initiatives while maintaining transparent project accountability.
· Experience engaging senior client stakeholders, facilitating governance forums and communicating delivery status, decisions and technical matters to executive audiences.
· Experience delivering projects across distributed, offshore or hybrid teams.
· Sound commercial judgement and familiarity with statements of work, project estimates, approved budgets, milestones and contractual delivery obligations.
· Experience with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps or comparable project planning and collaboration tools.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, business, project management or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
· A relevant project or programme management certification is desirable, including PMP, PRINCE2, AgilePM, Scrum Master or SAFe.

It would also be nice if you had
· Delivery experience involving Microsoft Azure, AWS or Google Cloud
· Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, dbt or similar modern data technologies
· Experience managing generative AI, enterprise search, recommendation, personalisation or conversational AI initiatives
· Experience in retail, e-commerce, healthcare, financial services or another complex enterprise environment
· Previous consulting experience managing both client outcomes and project commercial obligations
Why join HorizonX
· Lead meaningful AI and modern technology initiatives for enterprise clients
· Work directly with experienced architects, engineers, data specialists and business leaders
· Help organisations move from AI experimentation to responsible production adoption
· Influence how HorizonX delivers AI, data and cloud projects
