Test Engineer - Automation, APS5
An APS5 Test Engineer develops and executes automated and manual tests, identifies defects, supports software quality assurance, collaborates with delivery teams, and contributes to the continuous improvement of testing processes and automation capability to ensure reliable and secure ICT solutions
Senior Test Engineer - Automation, APS6
An APS6 Senior Test Engineer provides leadership in automated testing and quality engineering, delivering robust, scalable and secure ICT solutions while mentoring staff, driving continuous improvement and ensuring successful project outcomes in complex digital environments.
Test Engineer - Automation, APS5
- Execute assigned manual test cases and automated test scripts across multiple testing phases to validate system functionality and performance
- Identify, document, monitor and report defects, system issues and inconsistencies against business and technical requirements
- Develop test cases, task cards,
test scripts and supporting test data from provided specifications and requirements.
- Contribute to the development, maintenance and enhancement of automated testing frameworks and automation solutions.
- Support improvements to testing processes, tools, automation capabilities and team practices
- Plan and manage own work, contribute to team goals and support project delivery within agreed timeframes
- Work closely with developers, business analysts, testers and vendors to support quality delivery outcomes.
- Analyse test results and provide accurate reporting on testing activities, risks, issues and quality outcomes
Senior Test Engineer - Automation, APS6
- Lead the design, development and maintenance of strategic automated testing frameworks to support functional, integration, regression and end-to-end testing across ICT systems.
- Develop and execute complex automated test scripts and manual test cases, ensuring solutions meet business, functional and technical requirements.
- Analyse testing outcomes, defects and system issues, providing detailed recommendations and supporting remediation activities
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and agile delivery practices to improve release quality, efficiency and reliability.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to testers and development teams,
promoting quality engineering best practices and capability development.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, developers, architects and business representatives to ensure testing strategies align with project objectives and business outcomes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimisation, tool enhancement and increased automation coverage.
Essential Requirements:
- Security Clearance level required: Baseline (or ability to obtain and maintain).
- Proven experience in a test automation position.

An applicant’s suitability for employment with the agency will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process includes but is not limited to a national police history check, referee checks, code of conduct check and an employment history integrity check.
Some positions within Services Australia may be required to work in settings where mandatory vaccinations are required. Staff in such positions will need to demonstrate that they meet the vaccination requirements or have a relevant exemption.
