TV Magic Sunshine Coast

Sunshine Coast

This isn't your typical technician job.

TV Magic Sunshine Coast is an established and busy TV / AV installation business, and we're looking for the right person to train into a long-term position within our team.

We operate differently from a traditional hourly-wage business. Once fully trained, you'll work independently under a profit-share arrangement where your income is directly linked to the work you complete, your efficiency and your ability to look after customers and identify additional work.

The earning potential is $100,000+ per year once established — but this is not a guaranteed $100,000 salary. We're deliberately being upfront about that. This position suits someone motivated by the opportunity to earn more through their own ability and effort rather than simply being paid by the hour.

You'll receive extensive hands-on training, typically over 3–6 months, paid at $250 per day. Once you're confident and capable of operating independently, you'll be provided with an equipped TV Magic work van and take responsibility for managing your own day and customer workload.

Although we're a team, we don't believe in micromanaging. Once trained, you'll have considerable independence — organising your jobs, visiting customers throughout the Sunshine Coast, diagnosing problems, quoting and completing work, providing solutions, taking payments and keeping your van stocked.

What you'll actually be doing

No two days are exactly the same. You'll be working in customers' homes and businesses across the Sunshine Coast, solving problems and completing a broad range of TV and AV installation work.

Your day-to-day work will include:

- TV wall mounting and cable concealment
- TV, soundbar and AV equipment installation and setup
- Starlink installation and associated cabling
- Home theatre and audio-visual installations
- Troubleshooting TVs, streaming services, connectivity and other technology
- Running and terminating cabling
- Diagnosing TV reception and antenna faults, along with antenna installation where required
- Quoting customers and recommending the right solution for their needs
- Identifying additional work and upgrades where genuinely beneficial to the customer
- Taking payment and completing the job from start to finish

This role is about more than technical ability

Being handy with tools is only part of the job. You also need to be comfortable talking to customers, explaining options and making a sale.

We're looking for someone who can walk into a customer's home, quickly understand what they're trying to achieve, recommend the right solution and confidently quote the work. You'll be directly rewarded for your performance, so someone with good people skills, initiative and a natural ability to sell will generally do very well in this role.

You don't need to already know everything about TV and AV. We're prepared to invest significant time in training the right person. What is much harder to teach is attitude, confidence, practical ability, common sense and the motivation to succeed.

Who we're looking for

This position won't suit everyone — and that's completely fine.

We're looking for someone who genuinely wants responsibility for their own results and takes pride in being good at what they do.

You'll need to be

- Practical and mechanically minded — confident using hand and power tools and comfortable working things out.
- Good with technology — TVs, streaming services, Wi-Fi, apps and consumer electronics shouldn't intimidate you.
- Confident with people — you'll be dealing directly with customers every day, both face-to-face and over the phone.
- Well presented with high personal hygiene standards — this is non-negotiable. You'll be representing TV Magic in customers' homes every day, often working in close proximity to customers and their families. Clean workwear, good grooming and excellent personal hygiene are expected every day. If you don't take pride in how you present yourself at work, this role won't suit you.
- Sales-minded — you need to be comfortable recommending solutions, quoting work and asking for the sale. This is a major part of the role.
- Self-motivated — once trained, nobody will be standing over your shoulder telling you what to do next.
- Organised and financially responsible — you'll be collecting customer payments, managing stock and handling the responsibilities that come with working under a subcontract/profit-share arrangement.
- Physically capable — the job involves ladders, roofs, ceiling spaces, lifting TVs and working in confined areas.
- Reliable and responsive — this is essential. Once trained, customers will contact you directly and those calls are your work opportunities. You need to answer your phone when reasonably able, return missed calls promptly and follow enquiries through. Under a profit-share arrangement, responsiveness directly affects both the customer experience and your own income. If you're someone who regularly ignores calls, forgets to call people back or puts things off until later, this role won't suit you.
- Looking for something long-term — we're investing months into training you and want somebody who intends to establish themselves on the Sunshine Coast.

You'll also need a current open Australian driver's licence with a positive driving history, reliable personal transport during the training period, and eventually somewhere suitable to securely park a work van with approximately 2.4 m height clearance.

We're not necessarily looking for the person with the most impressive résumé. We're looking for the person with the right combination of practical ability, confidence, common sense, work ethic and drive.

What you'll get in return

If you're the right person, we're prepared to invest heavily in getting you there.

You'll receive 3–6 months of hands-on paid training at $250 per day, working alongside experienced technicians and learning the practical, technical, customer service and sales sides of the business.

Once you're ready to operate independently,

you'll be provided with a fully equipped TV Magic work van and begin working under our profit-share arrangement.

The opportunity from there is significant. Established earning potential is $100,000+ per year, with your income directly influenced by the amount of work you complete, your efficiency, your sales ability and how well you look after your customers.

This is not a guaranteed $100,000 salary and we don't want to pretend that it is. Equally, your earning potential isn't restricted by an hourly wage. If you're capable, organised, responsive and motivated, you're directly rewarded for it.

You'll also have something that's difficult to find in a conventional technician role: independence. Once trained, we'll trust you to manage your customers, workload and day without somebody constantly looking over your shoulder.

Before you apply

Please read the advertisement properly before applying.

We're investing considerable time and money into training one person for a long-term position, so we're not looking for someone simply applying to every $100,000+ job they see on Indeed.

You don't need previous TV/AV industry experience, but you do need to genuinely meet the characteristics described above. If you're practical, technically confident, comfortable dealing with customers, motivated by sales and earning potential, reliable with communication and capable of working independently, we'd genuinely like to hear from you.

If you're looking for a position where you can simply turn up, be told what to do all day and collect the same pay regardless of your performance, this probably isn't the role for you.

Pay: From $100,000.00 per year

- Company car
- Profit sharing
