About the role

Reporting to the Service Lead, the Workshop Supervisor will take responsibility for the day-to-day coordination and performance of the mechanical workshop. The position supports a diverse portfolio of plant and equipment assets, ranging from light vehicles and small plant through to heavy vehicles, and trailers.

The role is approximately 70% workshop supervision, planning and administration and 30% hands-on mechanical work. You'll be responsible for ensuring servicing and repairs are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard while maximising fleet availability and supporting continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

- Lead, support and develop a team of mechanics and apprentices.

- Coordinate preventative servicing, repairs and day-to-day workshop activities.

- Undertake hands-on mechanical work and provide technical support to the team as required.

- Manage service schedules,



job requests and workshop priorities.

- Raise and manage job cards and purchase orders and review relevant invoices.

- Maximise fleet and plant availability through effective maintenance planning.

- Maintain high standards across workshop safety, compliance and quality.

- Support the ongoing development of workshop systems, processes and maintenance practices.

- Coordinate external service providers and specialist repairs where required.

- Provide technical input relating to fleet and plant maintenance and equipment requirements.

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in the following:

- Mechanical Trade Certificate - essential.

- Strong experience within fleet, heavy vehicle, mobile plant or a similarly diverse mechanical maintenance environment.

- Previous experience supervising and developing tradespeople within a workshop environment.

- A hands-on leadership style with a willingness to work alongside the team when required.

- Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

- Valuable computer literacy, including Microsoft Outlook and Excel.

- Current C Class Driver's Licence.

- HR licence advantageous; however, the successful candidate can obtain this following commencement.
