This is a genuinely exciting opportunity for an experienced Paediatric Speech Pathologist who wants to step into a senior position where their clinical experience will actually influence how a service develops.
Speak Wonders currently operates an established clinic around Westmead, with a team of Speech Pathologists. Following continued growth, the Directors are now planning their second clinic for late 2026 and are looking for a Senior Speech Pathologist to join ahead of the expansion.
You'll initially become part of the existing Westmead team before having the prospect to play an important role in establishing the clinical culture and service delivery of the new location.
Why this role is different
- $80,000 – $115,000 + Super, depending on experience
- No individual billable targets
- Predominantly clinic-based paediatric caseload
- Minimal community travel
- Company car provided where travel between clinics/community appointments is required
- Join an existing team of Speech Pathologists
- Opportunity to help establish and shape a second clinic
- Work directly alongside an experienced Speech Pathology Director
- Take on greater clinical responsibility without moving away from hands-on therapy
- Established organisation with further team growth planned
- Opportunity to have genuine input into the future direction of the Speech Pathology service
No individual billable pressure. This is one of the biggest differences.
The Directors don't believe clinicians should be carrying the pressure of filling diaries, worrying about utilisation percentages or constantly watching a billable target.
Keeping the clinic commercially sustainable is viewed as the company's responsibility, not something that should sit on the individual clinician's shoulders.
Your focus is on providing high-quality Speech Pathology, supporting your clients and contributing to the clinical development of the team.
Step into a genuine senior position. The current Clinical Director is also a Speech Pathologist and remains heavily involved in the clinical side of the practice.
As the organisation grows into a second clinic, they are looking for an experienced Speech Pathologist who can become another strong senior clinical presence within the team.
Depending on your strengths and interests, this could involve:
- Supporting less experienced Speech Pathologists
- Being a point of contact for clinical questions
- Contributing ideas around service delivery and processes
- Helping maintain clinical quality as the team grows
- Supporting the transition into the second clinic
- Continuing to manage your own paediatric caseload
- Helping create a positive clinical culture for future team members
The aim isn't to pull you away from clinical work entirely. They want someone who still enjoys being a Speech Pathologist, but is ready for greater influence and responsibility.
The caseload: This is a paediatric-focused Speech Pathology position, working with children across a range of communication needs.
The organisation provides support across areas including speech, language, literacy and AAC, with a strong focus on personalised therapy for children and their families.
Most appointments will be clinic-based, rather than spending your working week driving between community appointments.
There may occasionally be a requirement to travel depending on client needs or between locations as the second clinic opens, and a company vehicle will be available where required.
Help build the second clinic. The business currently operates from Westmead, but the next stage of growth is already being planned.
A second clinic is expected to open towards the end of the year, with the final location currently being determined.
Rather than recruiting once everything has already been established, the Directors want their Senior Speech Pathologist to join earlier and become part of that journey.
This gives you the chance to understand the existing team, culture and service before contributing to the development of the new clinic.
If you've ever wanted to help shape a service without taking on the financial risk of starting your own practice, this could be an excellent middle ground.
An established team that's still small enough for your voice to matter. There are currently four Speech Pathologists within the team, with plans to continue expanding as the second clinic develops.
This means you're joining an established service rather than walking into a completely new start-up, while still arriving early enough to genuinely influence what the next stage looks like.
The Directors are looking for someone who will bring ideas, clinical knowledge and experience to the table rather than simply being given a caseload and expected to get on with it.
Who would suit this role? This opportunity would be particularly well suited to a Speech Pathologist who:
- Has strong paediatric Speech Pathology experience
- Is confident managing a paediatric caseload independently
- Enjoys supporting and sharing knowledge with other clinicians
- Is ready to take on greater senior responsibility
- Wants to remain clinically involved
- Would enjoy helping shape a growing Speech Pathology service
- Prefers clinic-based work over spending large portions of the week travelling
- Wants to move away from environments driven heavily by billable KPIs
- Values being part of a smaller team where their ideas can genuinely influence decisions
- Is looking for a role they can grow with over the next several years
You don't necessarily need to have held a formal leadership title previously. If you're a paediatric Speech Pathologist who has naturally become someone colleagues turn to for clinical support, this could be the opportunity to take that next step.
The opportunity: This isn't simply another Senior Speech Pathologist vacancy.
You're joining at the point where an established Westmead clinic is preparing for its next stage of expansion, giving you the opportunity to become an important senior member of the team before the second clinic opens.
You'll have the security of an existing caseload and established team, without unrealistic individual billable pressure, while still having the opportunity to help shape something new.
